Fundamentals of Effective Clinical Supervision: Certificate Program
Hybrid Course running from January 23rd to April 3rd, with asynchronous lectures and live consultations
Training Information
This 9 session virtual hybrid (asynchronous lecture, live consultation) certificate program is designed for prospective, new/supervisors-in-training, and experienced supervisors and will provide a critical overview of the conceptual and empirical literature on clinical supervision, including models approaches, techniques, relationships, and process issues. In addition, the course will cover what all clinical supervisors need to know how to engage most effectively, legally, and ethically with their supervisors. Lectures and supplemental materials will be sent to participants weekly and after every three lectures, there is a two-hour live consultations with the trainer. Live Consultations will be held on Fridays from 9am-11am Central on February 13th, March 6th, and April 3rd. Participants who review all lectures (and complete their corresponding quizzes with a score of at least 80%, quizzes can be taken an unlimited amount of times) and attend all live consultations will be eligible for up to 24 Continuing Education Credits. We encourage partipicants to attend an orientation/meet and greet with the trainer on January 23rd at 9am Central, as well, though there will not be credit for this session.
Training Objectives:
Define and compare the different types of supervision. | Define the aim, intent, and impact of effective clinical supervision. | Describe the legal, ethical, and professional standards for clinical supervision. | Discuss relevant literature and best practices in clinical supervision. | Discuss how to apply effective strategies in clinical supervision.| Develop conceptual knowledge,skills, and self-awareness concerning the above topic areas through readings, discussions.
Trainer Information
Jackie Anderson-Carter, PhD, LCSW has extensive experience in community programs, academia, and is currently serving as the Clinical Director at Inclusive Insight Psychotherapy and Consulting. She has supervised people and programs throughout her career and is dedicated to supporting new clinicians and supervisors. She has done extensive training and research on supervision. She also is a professor of social work, even teaching leadership courses and is a sought-after trainer and consultant on supervision and program management. She has developed this course with her extensive experience and we are excited to offer it again!

Registrants are eligible for refunds by request prior to the training session rrequesting. To participate in this training, you will need an updated web browser, such as Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge and audio access. Attendees who engage in this training will receive an evaluation, which will generate their CE certificate. Inclusive Insight Psychotherapy and Consulting, provider number 2389, is approved as an ACE provider to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Regulatory boards are the final authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit. ACE provider approval period: 8/15/25-8/15/26. Social workers completing this course receive 2 Ethics, 2 Cultural Competence, 10 Clinical and 10 general continuing education credits, but are not eligible if they do not complete this program in its entirety. Inclusive Insight Psychotherapy and Consulting has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 7833. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. Inclusive Insight Psychotherapy and Consulting is solely responsible for allaspects of the programs. Inclusive Insight Psychotherapy and Consulting is approved as a CEU provider by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (License #159.001482, expires 11/30/2027). This training meets supervision requirements for licensure renewal in Illinois.
