    How Our Clinics Work

Our program focuses on feel, timing and clear pressure-and-release communication. This approach builds a thinking horse and a confident rider who can create lasting results through understanding and leadership. For that reason, riders who rely on treat-based, marker or clicker reinforcement won’t be a fit for this clinic.

Jonathan isn’t part of the pendulum swing in the industry that thinks a little incense and wishful thinking will fix a horse. If that’s your approach, this isn’t the clinic for you.

If you want to learn effective skills for both you and your horse — ground training to ride better, develop healthy biomechanics and balanced equitation for long-term soundness, learn a program you can take home and enjoy your horse in different environments — then you’ll fit right in.

Jonathan welcomes riders of all levels from nervous beginners finding their path to experienced equestrians looking to deepen their skills.

The key requirement is attitude. Come ready to learn, not to debate every other training method.

Jonathan runs a respectful, focused learning environment built on good observation, mutual support, a few laughs and a lot of solid horsemanship. He wants you to leave with the direct coaching, unique group benefits and lots to take home.

New Riders are approved through the application process to ensure the right fit for the program and clinic environment.

If you choose to leave early or are asked to leave for any reason — including safety, disruptive attitude or not following clinic guidelines — no refunds will be given. Spots are limited and held specifically for you.

  • CLINIC GUIDELINES

  • Format

This clinic runs in two groups—morning and afternoon—to give you more focused coaching time with Jonathan and the added learning benefit of observing the other group.

    Riders Requirements

    • This is an all-levels clinic for confident riders on solid horses. Riders must be comfortable riding at walk/trot/canter in a group setting.
    • Riders must be at least 16 years of age. Youth riders aged 16-18 must submit a Young Rider Authorization Form for approval before registering for a clinic.
    • To get the most from this clinic experience, some familiarity with Jonathan's program is strongly encouraged. We recommend reading The Art Of Liberty Training For Horses book at minimum, or any of the digitial programs.
    • We strongly recommend all riders wear an approved safety helmet. Riders under 18 years of age MUST wear a helmet at all times while mounted.

    Horse Requirements

    • Horses must be at least 3 years old and safe to ride at a walk, trot, and canter in a group setting. This is not a colt-starting clinic.
    • For safety reasons, if a horse is deemed a danger to others, the rider will be asked to leave the clinic without a refund.
    • Stallions are not permitted.
    • Individual situations may vary, so please contact the clinic host to discuss your specific needs or concerns.

    Horse & Rider Policy

    • Each participant must ride the same horse throughout the clinic. Horse and rider substitutions are not allowed. If either becomes unable to complete the clinic, replacements are not permitted and no refunds will be issued.

    Photo / Video Policy

    • No photos or recordings of any kind are permitted during the clinlic. This protects the learning environment and respects every participant's privacy.
