    This intensive 10-session, 2-1/2-week course for Water Safety Instructor candidates is by advanced registration only. To participate, registration forms and course tuition of $250 for members and $300 for non–members must be received by Al Taliaferro on or before Wednesday, May 20th, 2026. Any registration after the 21st will incur a $25.00 late fee. Tuition includes all materials. You can check whether your facility is a member on the www.njpma.org website.

     

    PREREQUISITES:   Candidates must be at least 15 as of June 16th, 2026. NO EXCEPTIONS CAN BE MADE. Candidates must possess swimming skills of "Level IV". Proof of age must be presented at the Orientation session. A current driver’s license is acceptable proof. Photocopies of Birth Certificates are acceptable. In addition, candidates must successfully complete an online module

    before attending each class session and pass a pre-course swimming test.. The swimming skills to be tested are listed on the back of this form. Once registered, students will have access to all materials (including online modules).

     

    SCREENING INFORMATION:   All candidates must pass a pre-course swimming test before being admitted into the course. This will take place on June 1st and test swimming skills mastery. Refunds (minus $75.00 in administration and materials costs) will be mailed only to candidates who do not pass the swimming pre-test. There will be NO REFUNDS for candidates who drop out after June 1st, 2026.

    Course materials will be distributed after the successful completion of the pre-test.

  • Water Safety Instructor Course Release and Liability Waiver

    I, the undersigned participant, understand that participation in the Water Safety Instructor (WSI) Course involves physical activity, aquatic skills, in-water training, and classroom instruction that may involve inherent risks, including but not limited to injury, illness, slips, falls, drowning, or other accidents associated with aquatic activities.

    In consideration for being permitted to participate in the Water Safety Instructor Course conducted through the New Jersey Pool Managers Association, I hereby acknowledge and agree to the following:

    1. Assumption of Risk
      I voluntarily assume all risks associated with participation in the course, including aquatic and physical activities conducted during training sessions.
    2. Medical Fitness
      I certify that I am physically capable of participating in all course activities and have no medical condition that would prevent me from participating safely. I understand it is my responsibility to consult with a physician if I have any concerns regarding my fitness to participate.
    3. Release of Liability
      I hereby release, waive, discharge, and hold harmless the New Jersey Pool Managers Association, its officers, instructors, trainers, employees, volunteers, host facilities, and affiliated organizations from any and all liability, claims, demands, actions, or causes of action arising out of or related to any loss, damage, injury, illness, or death that may be sustained while participating in the course or while on the premises where the course is conducted.
    4. Emergency Medical Treatment
      In the event of an emergency, I authorize course staff and emergency personnel to secure medical treatment on my behalf if I am unable to do so. I understand that I am responsible for any costs associated with such treatment.
    5. Course Requirements
      I understand that successful completion of the course requires attendance, participation, completion of prerequisite skills, and successful completion of all required coursework and examinations.
      Acknowledgment
      I have carefully read this release and fully understand its contents. I understand that by signing this document, I am giving up certain legal rights.
