    For your safety and comfort, please come prepared for outdoor conditions and any personal health needs. If you have allergies, asthma, sensitivities, or any medical concerns, be sure to bring any necessary medications, including an EpiPen or inhaler.

    We also strongly recommend bringing:

    Sunscreen
    Bug spray
    Plenty of water
    A hat and jacket or other sun/rain protection

    Please wear appropriate outdoor clothing, including closed-toe shoes, comfortable attire, and layers suitable for changing weather conditions.

    Taking these precautions will help ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.

    Winterspring’s Equine-Assisted Therapy Session Rules
    To create a safe, respectful, and healing environment for all participants, humans and horses, please follow these rules at all times.


    🧠 Emotional and Physical Safety
    Zero Tolerance for Violence or Aggression

    1. No verbal aggression, threats, yelling, name-calling, or intimidation.

    2. No physical aggression of any kind including hitting, pushing, throwing objects, or harming others.

    3. Absolutely no striking, hitting, or threatening any of the horses or animals.

    4. Violations may result in immediate removal from the session and possible termination of services.


    Respect Personal and Emotional Boundaries

    1. Use kind, respectful language with all participants and staff.

    2. Ask before touching others or entering their personal space, including the horses.

    🍃 Substance-Free Environment
    No Drugs, Alcohol, or Mind-Altering Substances

    1. Do not attend sessions under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

    2. No use or possession of substances on the property.

    3. If you’re on prescribed medication that may affect coordination or awareness, please notify staff beforehand.

    🐴 Horse and Facility Safety
    Basic Horse Safety Rules

    1. Always approach horses calmly and from the front or side, where they can see you.

    2. Do not run, yell, or make sudden movements around the horses.

    3. Never walk directly behind a horse always keep a safe distance or gently touch and speak to the horse if you must pass behind.

    4. Keep hands, feet, and objects away from the horse’s face, mouth, and hind legs.

    5. Follow all staff instructions when leading, grooming, or interacting with horses.

    6. Wear appropriate, closed-toed footwear (no sandals or flip-flops) and weather appropriate layers & outerwear.


    Respect for the Facility and Animals

    1. Do not enter stalls, pens, or pastures without permission.

    2. Do not feed or touch animals unless directed by a facilitator.

    3. Treat all animals and property with care and kindness.

    💬 Communication and Responsibility
    Open and Honest Participation

    1. You’re encouraged to express yourself safely and authentically.

    2. If you feel overwhelmed or triggered at any point, please let staff know and you will be supported.

    3. Follow Staff Instructions at All Times

    4. Staff are trained for your safety and the wellbeing of the animals. Their guidance must be followed promptly and respectfully.


    🚫 Consequences of Rule Violations
    Violations of zero-tolerance policies (violence, aggression, substance use, or mistreatment of animals) may result in immediate removal from the session and possible discontinuation of services.


    Other rule violations will be addressed by staff and may result in a verbal warning, pause in participation, or other appropriate action.

    By attending sessions and signing below, you agree to uphold these rules. Our shared goal is to create a safe, respectful, and healing space for you, for others, and for the animals. Thank you for being part of this community.
