Katy Youth Symphony is dedicated to providing a nurturing environment for youth musicians to grow and excel in their craft. We’re so excited to have you join us for another wonderful year! Whether you’re a returning family or joining us for the first time, thank you for being part of our growing musical community. We’re honored to support your child’s development as a young musician.

Rehearsals: Weekly rehearsals take place on Mondays from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM.

Audition Fee: $40 Due Today (Any parent/student may apply for Need-Based Financial-aid. Please complete this form and then email info@katyys.org to request the application).

Spring Tuition Cost: $295 Due after the student is accepted (20% sibling discount applied at checkout), Payment Plans, School specific scholarships (MRHS,Paetow,MRJHS), & need-based financial-aid is available.

NO AUDITION REQUIRED for Accepted or Returning Students:

If your student participated in the Spring of 2025 and/or in the 2025 Strings Summer Camp, A welcome/acceptance email for the 2025 - 26 season was sent to your email address on file and, your child will NOT need to audition again. Please proceed to the 2025-26 Season Registration Form. <-----click link

Returning Students:

If your student participated in the Spring 2025 they do NOT need to re-audition for the same level orchestra. Simply submit the online Student Registration form, and we’ll look forward to seeing them at the first Fall 2025 rehearsals!

Summer Strings Camp Students:

If your student participated in the 2025 Summer Strings Camp they do NOT need to re-audition for the fall semester.  Level Observations and/or Auditions are conducted during the camp session. Simply submit the online Student Registration form, and we’ll look forward to seeing them at the first Fall 2025 rehearsals!

Note Regarding Placements: We aim to foster an environment of growth and personal satisfaction for our student musicians. To best understand and nurture their talents, Directors will conduct additional Level - Placement, & Chair evaluations during the first, second and/or third meetings of our program. This approach allows us to get to know your child personally and gain insight into their playing abilities.

Students are placed into groups where they can successfully perform musical selections that challenge, stretch, and grow their musical knowledge and skills. 

Chair & Level Placement adjustments may be made througout the season as needed based on performance and attendance.

** New Students & Past Participants in Fall 2024 or earlier 

Please schedule an audition below.

 If your student wishes to prepare, the requirements are as follows:

1. Solo: Each student should have one solo music piece of his or her own choosing (3 mins MAX) prepared. Please bring a copy of the music to your audition for the director.

2. Scales: Students should be prepared to play Either;

a. One or Two (2) octave major scales of student's choice. Quarter Note = 100

or

b. Two (3) octave major scales of student's choice. Quarter Note = 100 (Auditions for Chamber ensemble must include this)

3. Sight Reading: Be prepared for a short melodic and rhythmic sight-reading component.

Indemnity and Waiver of Claim: I hereby acknowledge that as a condition of the student participating in the audition, agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Katy Youth Symphony, Harris County Precinct 4, Power House Church, its employees and volunteers, its governing board, the individual members thereof, and all other officers, agents and employees from any liability, lawsuit, cost, expense or claim of any type whatsoever (including legal fees) for any harm, injury or death arising out of the above-mentioned activity.

New Applicants, Please pay the $40 non-refundable Audition fee.

If your child is accepted, the tuition for Orchestra is $590, Tuition payment is due before the first day of orchestra rehersal (Monday, September 08, 2025). Payment plans are available.

Tuition invoicing wil begin in August.

School specific scholarships (MRHS,Paetow,MRJHS), & need-based financial-aid is available.
