1. Commitment to the Program: By applying, you acknowledge the rigorous nature of the program and commit to engaging in all program components, including coursework, classroom observations, field experiences, and any other required activities. You understand that consistent attendance, active participation, and meeting deadlines are essential for successful completion.
2. Adherence to Standards of Conduct: As a candidate in the program, you agree to uphold high standards of professional and ethical conduct. This includes treating all individuals—students, faculty, staff, and community members—with respect and dignity. You will adhere to the values of the program and the policies of the institution.
3. Commitment to Equity and Inclusion: You agree to actively engage in and support efforts to create an equitable, inclusive, and identity-affirming environment for all learners. You will demonstrate a strong commitment to ensuring access to high-quality education for all students, regardless of their background, identity, or abilities.
4. Continuous Growth and Reflection: You acknowledge that becoming an effective educator requires ongoing growth, self-reflection, and a commitment to improvement. You agree to accept constructive feedback and use it to enhance your teaching practice. You will engage in reflective practices, taking ownership of your learning and professional development throughout the program.
5. Compliance with Program Requirements: You agree to meet all academic and professional requirements set forth by the program, including maintaining a specified GPA, successfully completing all assignments and assessments, and meeting field experience and residency requirements. Failure to meet these requirements may result in dismissal from the program.
6. Use of Personal Information: By submitting your application, you authorize the program to use your personal and academic information for purposes related to the application process, program enrollment, compliance with North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) and any necessary communications. Your information will be kept confidential and handled according to the program’s privacy policies.
7. Program Modifications: You acknowledge that the program may make changes to its structure, content, and requirements, and agree to comply with any such changes as directed by the program administration. You will be notified of any substantial modifications to the program or its requirements.
8. Confidentiality and Respect for Learners: You agree to maintain confidentiality regarding any sensitive information related to students, families, or educational settings encountered during fieldwork or other program activities. You will not disclose personal, academic, or behavioral information about students or colleagues outside of professional contexts.
9. Conditional Enrollment and Termination of Participation: Enrollment in the program is continugent upon an offer of employment by KIPP North Carolina by July 1 of the current academic year. Additionally, continuous employment with KIPP North Carolina is required to remain eligible for enrollment. Your offer of enrollment is conditional based upon the aforementioned items and enrollment requirements being met. You understand that failure to adhere to these terms, or behavior that compromises the program’s integrity, may result in termination of your participation in the program. If you choose to withdraw, you agree to inform the program administration in writing within ten (10) business days of your decision.
10. Three-Year Post-Program Service Commitment: Enrollment in KIPP NC Teacher U is free of charge to accepted candidates. In return for this opportunity and upon successful completion of the program, you agree to work as a full-time employee of KIPP North Carolina for a minimum of five consecutive years. If you voluntarily leave or are dismissed from employment from KIPP North Carolina before completing three (3) years, you agree to pay $1,300 per uncompleted year, up to a total of $5,000.
