  • This engagement with the minerals industry is part of an information and evidence gathering exercise in relation to minerals within Fermanagh and Omagh District Council area. The information and evidence obtained, where relevant will be taken into account in the Council's consideration of which areas to designate as Mineral Safeguarding Areas (MSAs) within the Fermanagh and Omagh draft Local Policies Plan. It will also help the Council establish a better information and evidence base more generally on minerals in the District.

    The Council’s Plan Strategy Glossary defines a Mineral Safeguarding Area as;
    ‘Areas protected from development in order to protect mineral resources for future generations’.
