Make your voice heard and join us for a powerful day of advocacy and
action! Advocacy Day will feature 3 awards for advocacy work in mental health. The 3 awards are:
- Legislator of the Year - The award goes to an elected official nominated by members of the NAMI NYS for acts, programs, events, or a combination of activities that illustrate the chapters dedication to those with mental illness and their families. This can be a Local, State, or Federal legislator whose work has greatly benifited the State of New York.
- Advocate of the Year- The award goes to a NAMI nominated by other members of NAMI for acts, programs, events, or a combination of activities that illustrate the individual’s dedication to New York State policy change & advocacy that greatly benefits those with mental illness and their families.
- Youth Advocate of the Year - The award goes to a Youth Mental Health Advocate in New York State. The award is for acts, programs, events, or a combination of activities that illustrate their dedication to those with mental illness and their families. Nominations will be made by members of NAMI NYS and decided by NAMI NYS Next Gen 2026.
All submissions are reviewed by Government Affairs Committee or Next Gen members with recipents selected from the pool of submitted nominations through this form only. All nominations are due by Februrary 15th at midnight. The Advocate and Youth Advocate awards are for NAMI members or members of NAMI ON Campus only.
Awards will be giving at the NAMI NYS Advocacy Day on March 4th 2026.
