Each summer, Cincinnati Ballet’s Otto M. Budig Academy hosts students from across the country at our six-week Summer and Collegiate Intensive training programs. Housing opportunities for students traveling to the area are provided at a local university. The Otto M. Budig Academy is in search of Summer and Collegiate Intensive participants to serve as Housing Interns for the summer of 2026 (June 13, 2026 – July 25, 2026). Housing Interns will learn alongside our Resident Advisors to serve as peer leaders for their fellow students in the Summer Resident Program connected to Cincinnati Ballet’s 2026 Summer and Collegiate Intensives. The Housing Intern’s central focus is learning how to craft an engaging and welcoming environment which considers and respects the needs of a diverse student population, many of whom may be away from home for the first time. Housing Interns also work in tandem with the Resident Advisors to ensure the overall safety and well-being of the student body.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Learn the important considerations for creating and maintaining a safe, secure and nurturing residential environment for all students.
- Learn how to develop a positive resident life experience by establishing a culture of support, encouragement, personal care, belonging and mutual respect.
- Learn how to create rules and guidelines for students in a resident program.
- Learn why adherence to all Cincinnati Ballet and residence hall policies and procedures is important for a resident program to function well.
- Accompany students to all meals, events and activities during scheduled hours.
- Learn how to establish a daily routine for program participants and why engaging, informal activities for students during evening hours is important to balance the stress and demands of the day.
- Learn to support student issues and disciplinary concerns by working alongside the Resident Advisors, Resident Housing Supervisors and Student Services Manager.
Required Competencies and Qualifications
- Eligibility is contingent upon acceptance to and registration in the Summer Intensive or Collegiate Intensive program. Program tuition is the responsibility of the participant.
- Prior experience in customer care and the supervision of minors.
- Exceptional moral character and an ability to lead by example.
- Proven leadership, mentorship, customer service and listening skills.
- Highly responsible and flexible individual with a strong work ethic, positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Commitment to the values and culture of Cincinnati Ballet’s Otto M. Budig Academy.
- Passion for student service and a caring and nurturing demeanor.
- Strong commitment to the protection and safety of minors.
- Confidence in reinforcing expectations and learning how to enforce disciplinary action.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills and attitudes and an ability to communicate with a wide spectrum of individuals.
- Self-motivated, independent worker with strong organizational and time management skills.
- Must be 18 years of age or older by program start date.
- Candidate will be subject to a criminal background check.
Expected Work Hours and Travel
Candidate must be available for all six weeks of program and be engaged as a student in the Summer Intensive or Collegiate Intensive program. Required hours also include a virtual team training (Friday, June 5, 2026 from 3:00-4:30pm EST), and a virtual Resident Orientation Session (Wednesday, June 10, 2026 from 4:45pm-6:15pm EST).
