The Greensboro Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated™ (GAC) is committed to helping African American high school seniors maintain academic excellence. This includes ensuring that students have access to the financial resources needed to pursue a college degree. The GAC Scholarship Program will offer 17 nonrenewable scholarship awards this year. We are delighted to present our scholarship proram award application to you!
Scholarships are available to students attending a public, private, parochial high school or postsecondary educational institutions within the service areas of Greensboro/Guilford County, Jamestown, Oak Ridge, Climax, Summerfield, McLeansville, Pleasant Garden, Sedalia, Gibsonville, Whitsett, and Browns Summit. To be eligible to receive an award, recipients must have a grade point average of at least 3.0 (based on a 4.0 scale) and enroll in a full-time program at an accredited college, university, or an institution of equivalent accreditation during the 2026-27 academic year. Ultimately, acceptance of the award MUST come in the form of enrollment verification provided on college letterhead, emailled to scholarship@dstgac.org no later than August 31, 2026.
Applications must include the following items:
- Electronic submission of this completed application form.
- Official copy of your transcript uploaded as part of the application form.
- Two letters of recommendation.
- A Personal Statement (500-650) words. The personal statement should be typed with size 12 Times New Roman font and one-inch margins.
- Copy of your senior portrait that can be used for media release purposes.
- Signature from a parent or guardian.
The Barry-Boone Execellence in Scholarship Award is a non-renewable one-year scholarship award. This scholarship recognizes outstanding male and female high school seniors enrolled in Guilford County schools who have maintained a minimum GPA of 3.0. It honors academic excellence and dedication to scholastic achievement. Additional requirements are noted in the Scholarship Eligibility Requirements section below. Five scholarship awards in the amount of $2,000 will be given.
The Gibbs-Roberts Empowered Excellence Scholarship Award is a non-rewable one-year award. This scholarship honors exceptional male and female seniors attending high school within our sercive area who have maintained a minimum GPA of 3.0 and plan to pursue a degree in Science Technolgy Engerneering or Mathmatics (STEM). It is awarded in recognition of their academic promise and committment to advancing innovation and excellence in these critical fields. Additional requirements are noted in the Scholarship Elgibility Requirements section below. Five scholarship awards in the amount of $2,000 will be given.
The Smith-Torrence Defying Boundaries Scholarship is a non-renewable one-year. scholarship award. Awarded to outstanding male and female students who plan to attend a community college to pursue certfication in a trade program. This scholarhsip recognizes individuals committed to gaining practical, career-focused skills that prepare them for success in high-demand industries. Submitted transcripts must demonstrate a CTE course of student and a minimum GPA of 3.0. Additional requirements are noted in the Scholarship Eligibility Requirements section below. Five scholarship awards in the amount of $1,000 will be given.
The Willis-Smith Bridge to Brillance Scholarship Award is a non-renewable one-year scholarship award. This scholarship supports full-time undergraduate and graduate collegiate members of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. who are enrolled at a college or university within Guilford County. Eligible applicants must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 and demonstrate need and a commitment to academic excellence and personal growth. Additional requirements are noted in the Scholarship Eligibility Requirements section below. Two scholarships in the amount of $2,500 will be given.
