2026 CAMP DATES/CAMP SITES
Tuesday-Friday, June 9-12, 2026, 8:30am-3:30pm: Marcos de Niza High School, 6000 South Lakeshore Drive, Tempe, AZ, 85283.
Campers selected by audition for the High School Honor Chamber Ensembles will have an extended camp day until 4:30pm, Tuesday-Friday.
Campers selected by audition for the Middle School Chamber Ensembles will rehearse on Wednesday-Friday, 8:00-8:30am.
Saturday, June 13, 2026, 12:00-6:00pm, Dress Rehearsal and Camp Concert: Tempe Center for the Arts, 700 W. Rio Salado Parkway, Tempe, AZ 85281. The free culminating camp concert will held in the Tempe Center for the Arts Theater from 4:00-6:00pm. High school campers will arrive at 12:00pm and middle school campers will arrive at 2pm. Depending on large ensemble placement, some incoming 9th graders will be considered high school campers and some incoming 9th graders will be considered middle school campers. Slight time adjustments to the 6/13/26 schedule may be made in late spring.
LARGE ENSEMBLES (with general guidelines for placement)
The camp will have four large ensembles: Wind Ensemble (10-12th graders and graduated seniors), Symphonic Band (9th-12th graders), Middle School Honor Band (7th-9th graders), and Concert Band (7th-9th graders). Ensemble placement audition music/instructions will be emailed to registered campers in April. Campers' ensemble placement audition, campers' grade level in fall 2026, and large ensemble instrumentation limits will determine large ensemble placement.
TUITION
Camp Tuition is $400. There are NO REFUNDS available for MEF Band Camp deposits or tuition paid. Early registration discounts and limited financial aid are available.
FINANCIAL AID
Limited financial aid is available for students who would otherwise not be able to attend MEF Band Camp. Please contact Carol Mellis, Camp Director, cmellis@musicianenrichmentfoundation.org, if you require financial assistance in order to attend MEF Band Camp. Please wait to apply for camp until financial assistance has been approved.
HIGH SCHOOL LEADERSHIP TEAM
High School Leadership Team (HSLT) is open by application to 15 exceptional students entering 11th grade, 12th grade or graduated 2026 seniors. HSLT members participate in all camper activities, receive leadership training, coach middle school chamber ensembles, provide leadership for the younger campers and assist the camp staff as needed. FIRST TIME AT MEF BAND CAMP?
If this is your first time at MEF Band Camp, please have the brief Instructor Recommendation Form submitted on your behalf by your current band director or private music instructor. You can find the form by clicking and scrolling down on "Band Camp" on the menu bar at musicianenrichmentfoundation.org. Returning campers do not need to provide the Instructor Recommendation Form.
Minimum Experience Required for MEF Band Camp:
- 10th-12th graders/graduating seniors: 2 years of band instruction
- 7th-9th grade: 9 months of band instruction
The camp director will determine camper eligibility soon after registration is received and will contact parents/guardian if a student does not seem to have the required experience/age/skill to be successful at MEF Band Camp. In the rare case of this occurring, the registration will be voided and a refund for camp tuition will be made.
PERMISSION/LIABILTY FORMS AND ELECTIVE REQUESTS:
Campers' permission/liability forms and elective requests will be available through Jotform in May. Links will be sent to the parent email(s) listed on the camp registration form.
