  • Plaque Artwork Specifications

The Alaska MMIP Traveling Memorial plaques will feature custom artwork, and we are seeking designs and carvings that align with the memorial’s purpose of honoring Missing and Murdered Indigenous Peoples. Here are the key details regarding the artwork requirements:

    • Plaque Dimensions: Each plaque measures 12 inches x 16 inches.
    • Artwork Border: The design must include a 1-inch border that will go around the plaque, framing the names on the memorial.
    • Current Number of Plaques: There are 5 plaques initially, with additional plaques being added as the memorial expands.

    For Digital Designers:

If you submit a digital design, it must be in one of the following formats:

    • SVG
    • PNG
    • High-resolution JPEG

Note: All designs submitted will be etched into the plaques and used for future plaques as the memorial grows.

    For Wood Carvers/Painters:

If you are a wood carver or painter, you will be asked to carve or paint a 1-inch border around the 5 initial plaques.

  • Funding and Honorarium

The Alaska MMIP Traveling Memorial is made possible through funding from Empowerment Advocate Alaska and donated services from local businesses. If your artwork is selected for inclusion in the memorial, you will receive an honorarium as follows:

    • $250 for digital designs
    • $400 per set of 5 plaques for all other forms of artwork (such as woodworking, carving, painting.)

This honorarium is provided to acknowledge your valuable contribution to the memorial. Additionally, artists will be credited for their work and their name will be mentioned at every memorial event as a key contributor.
