  • Thank you for expressing interest in a position on the ASI Board of Directors! This years election will be held on April 22 and 23, 2026. Information regarding the Election and running for office may be found on the ASI website. 

    To be considered as a candidate for the ASI Board of Directors, students must complete and/or submit the following no later than Monday, March 9, 2026, at 4:00 PM:

    • Attend a Mandatory Candidate Workshop AND a Mandatory Ethics Workshop

    The candidate statement will be used in the official ASI Voter Booklet as well as appearing on the ASI website, statements should be no longer than 1550 characters and inserted below. Do not include any quotations.

    Hello, my name is Herky Hornet Jr., and I am running for [insert position]. Over the past year, I have had the privilege of serving as an orientation leader and actively participating in several University Committees. I also played a key role in planning last fall’s Homecoming Event.

    As Vice President of GQI, an ethnic club on campus, I have gained valuable leadership experience. Through my involvement, I’ve come to appreciate the importance of staying engaged and maintaining good health. Every day, decisions are made that directly impact students, and I am committed to ensuring that students have a strong voice in those decisions.

    My top priority is to [insert top priority]. To achieve this, I will [insert your plan]. 

    On April 6 and 7, I ask for your support. I believe my experience, dedication, and vision make me the most qualified candidate for this role. Thank you, and I hope to earn your vote!

  • The election will be held online, allowing students to vote from any computer or device, whether at home, work, school, or on the go. Additionally, an on-campus polling station will be available outside the west entrance of the University Union. All currently enrolled students are eligible to vote.

  • Mandatory Candidate Workshop and Mandatory Ethics Workshop Acknowledgement:

    I acknowledge my responsibility to attend one mandatory candidate and one mandatory ethics workshops during the scheduled dates/times. I acknowlege that failure to attend either workshop for the entire duration including early departure and late arrival will deem my application ineligible for candidacy.

  • Campaign Start Date Acknowledgement: 

    We acknowledge that we may not begin campaigning until April 2, 2026 at 7:00AM only after we have received notice of our eligibility as a candidate from the ASI Executive Director.

  • Clean Up Acknowledgement:

    We acknowledge our responsibility to clean up and remove all campaigning material no later than April 26, 2026 at 5:00 PM or Student Organizations & Leadership will have facilities remove materials and bill us at a cost to not exceed $50.00

  • Terms for Complaint Resolution

    • As a candidate in this year's annual General Election of the Associated Students, Inc., at California State University, Sacramento ("ASI"). I understand that ASI seeks to avoid litigation over elections and that this agreement, if signed by me, constitutes my promise and agreement to not personally file a lawsuit solely about the election for the office for which I am a candidate.

    • I have been provided access to the current ASI Elections Code. I have read the ASI Elections Code including parts IX and X that govern the filing and resolution of ASI elections complaints. I understand the election complaint resolution provisions of that Code, and I will adhere to them in the event I file an election complaint. I further agree that the elections complaint procedures and remedies contained in the ASI Elections Code are the sole and exclusive means by which I can seek a remedy for any and all complaints I might file solely over the election for the office for which I am a candidate. I also agree that all decisions by the Elections Complaint Committee which are not appealed to the Appellate Council are final. I also agree that all decisions of the Appellate Council are final.

    • Conflict of Interest: I have reviewed the members of the Election Complaint Committee and Appellate Council and understand that if I have a concern regarding a possible conflict of interest, I must submit a statement of concern to the Vice President of Student Affairs for resolution.

    • I realize and fully appreciate that by signing this agreement that if I do file a complaint I am agreeing to abide by the results of the elections complaint resolution process contained in the ASI Elections Code and that:

    I HEREBY RELINQUISH ALL RIGHTS AND OPPORTUNITIES I MAY HAVE TO FILE A LAWSUIT OR SEEK RELIEF OTHER THAN THAT AVAILABLE IN THE ASI ELECTIONS CODE FOR ANY COMPLAINT OF MINE SOLELY WITH RESPECT TO THE OUTCOME OF THE ELECTION FOR THE OFFICE FOR WHICH I AM A CANDIDATE. I DO RESERVE ALL OTHER RIGHTS I MAY HAVE THAT ARE NOT EXPRESSLY WAIVED BY THIS AGREEMENT.

  • Complaint Resolution Acknowledgement:

  • Campaign Expenditure Report Acknowledgement:

    We acknowledge our responsibility to personally submit our Campaign Expenditure Report in person to the ASI Student Government Office no later than Monday, April 27, 2026, by 4:00 PM. Failure to submit a Campaign Expenditure Report will result in disqualification.

  • Authorization for Academic Release:

    We authorize the Vice President for Student Affairs Office to release our academic information to the ASI Executive Director for the sole purpose of determining eligibility to hold office on the ASI Board of Directors as described in the ASI Bylaws. Should we be elected to the Board, this authorization shall be valid for the entire academic year. See the ASI Elections Code (Article IV. A) for complete details on the procedures for grade verification.

  • Campaign Starter Kits & Print Credit

  • ASI will provide campaign starter kits, each valued at $75 for each candidate. Kits will include the following items:

    Additionally, ASI will issue University Print & Mail credits to all verified candidates as follows: $50 per indepedent candidate, $75 per presidential ticket, and $100 per slate. Credits are one-time, non-transferable, and expire at the close of the elections season; any unused balance is forfeigted. 

    This will provide early resources, ensuring students have the tools and financial support they need to run for office in ASI Elections. Items provided by ASI must be claimed on the Campaign Expenditure report form at a zero dollar cost and rental type. Contributions directly from ASI will not be considered in the amount spent on the Campaign Expenditure form however, all items must still be included on the form. Failure to do so may result in a hearing with the Elections Complaint Committee.
