• Hudson Valley Apprenticeship Interest Form

    Glynwood trains future farmers through the Hudson Valley Apprentice (HVA) program: a decentralized apprenticeship that provides education, training and mentoring at farms across the Mid-Hudson Valley. If after reviewing the HVA Overview and FAQ (linked below) you feel that this program would be a good fit for you, please complete this interest form. Glynwood staff will read your responses to understand if you could do well in this program. If we think you could, you will be approved as a candidate for the program. You will be notified of the outcome of our decision either way. Please note that completing this form does not take the place of applying to a job on a specific HVA Mentor Farm, which you will also have to do and then be hired for that job in order to become an apprentice.

  • Minimum Qualifications

    Each of the items in the list below needs to be true about you for you to be considered for the Hudson Valley Apprenticeship program.
    • 18 years of age
    • GED/HS Diploma or equivalent
    • Legal authorization to work in the USA
    • Prior farm experience

  • HVA apprentices are required to complete 60 hours of classroom education. Are you comfortable learning in a more structured academic setting?*
  • Are you available to participate in HVA activities from April through the first week of December? This includes classes and meetings, and will not exactly match your start and end dates with your Mentor farm employer. You should anticipate spending 2-4 hours a week (on average, with seasonal fluctuation) on HVA activities.
  • HVA apprentices spend most of their time working on farms. Are you willing and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions* on physically challenging tasks? (*This includes weather that is hot, cold, wet etc but does not include unsafe conditions such as extreme heat, storms, smoke, etc.)*
  • All participants in the Hudson Valley Apprenticeship program must agree to follow our community working agreements. Please read the community agreements here (https://bit.ly/4ikFQ0C) and indicate your willingness to follow them:*

  • Completing this form is the first step in the process of joining the Hudson Valley Apprenticeship. This form does not replace a job application to a mentor farm.

    If you are approved by Glynwood staff to participate in the program based on your answers to the questions in this form, you will receive a list of the mentor farms who are hosting apprentices for the upcoming season. You will need to submit a job application to the mentor farm(s) you are interested in working at and be hired for that position in order to become an apprentice.

    It is your responsibility to look for job openings on each mentor farm’s own website or on listservs.

    You do not need to wait to be approved by Glynwood to participate in the Hudson Valley Apprenticeship before you apply to a mentor farm’s job posting. In the (unlikely) case that you are hired on a mentor farm, but not approved to participate in the Hudson Valley Apprenticeship, you may still take that job but may not be able to participate in HVA activities like classes and social activities.
