2026–2027 Application for Art Museum-based Health Professions Education Fellowship
  • Application for Art Museum-based Health Professions Education Fellowship, 2026–2027

  • Thank you for your interest in the Harvard Macy Institute's Art Museum-based Health Professions Education Fellowship.

    Due date: The deadline for applications to the 2026-2027 cohort is 11:59 pm eastern time on March 13, 2026. Applicants will be notified of decisions by the week of May 4, 2026.

    Eligibility: This Fellowship is designed for health professions educators who have experience using the arts and humanities in health professions education, ideally within the art museum setting. Fellows should apply with an art museum-based health professions education project to be implemented at their home institution. The project is to be briefly outlined here and would be further developed or revised over the course of the Fellowship.

    While more than one applicant per project may apply, each person needs to apply separately. There is no guarantee that more than one applicant will be accepted.

    Unfortunately, we are unable to provide discounts or scholarships at this time.

    Evaluation: Applicants will be evaluated on:

    • evidence of experience and interest in using arts and humanities in health professions education;
    • quality of project plan, including clear linkages to health professions competencies;
    • ability to ensure implementation of their project;
    • plans for specific museum partnership;
    • context of curriculum, including number and type of learners they will be working with; and potential for wider impact and scholarly contribution to the field.

    When creating each cohort, the selection committee makes a conscious effort to diversify the group in terms of professional background, project type, gender, race, ethnicity, and geographical location.

    Save and complete later: Applicants can use the "Save" button at the bottom of this form to start their application at one point and finish it later.

    • Proposed Project
    • Applicants are asked to propose an educational project for health professions learners that they ideally would carry out with a museum partner. The project is to be briefly outlined here and would be further developed or revised over the course of the Fellowship.

      Projects must be innovative, designed according to principles of adult learning, and use the visual arts as a key pedagogical feature. We are open to the complementary use of other art forms within projects such as narrative, poetry, film, dance, etc. We give priority to curricula that includes using a museum setting.
