  • Funding Categories

  • As part of our 2026 Giving Cycle we offer different categories of funds to meet the different needs of our partners and their existing efforts. They are:

    Category Description Funding Range
    Organizational grants Large grants for community-centered organizations to move collaborative and substantial efforts forward. $50,000 to $100,000
    Project grants Small to medium grants for organizations or community groups to jump start or grow their efforts. $5,000 to $40,000
    Professional development scholarships Scholarships for individuals to seize opportunities for professional growth. Up to $5,000
    Fellowships Compensated opportunities for individuals to become embedded within an organization and support their efforts. $10,000 to $60,000
  • Organizational grants

    Purpose: To strengthen the capacity for organizations that hold established partnerships with Indigenous communities to advance community efforts in co-stewardship and climate resilience in Southern California. Eligible projects will support efforts to explore and integrate Indigenous knowledges, participation, and leadership in climate adaptation planning and stewardship.

    Purpose: To support community-based projects or events that advance community efforts in co-stewardship and climate resilience in Southern California. Eligible projects will support efforts to explore and integrate Indigenous knowledges, participation, and leadership in climate adaptation planning and stewardship. This funding can be used to fill in gaps in existing projects or help to seed fund new efforts. Funding can be used to help disseminate activities, support community events, support community-led programming, or other activities that are related to climate change planning and community resilience responses, education, and outreach.

    Huntington Beach Wetlands Conservancy

    Organization Description: 
    The Huntington Beach Wetlands Conservancy (“HBWC”) is a non-profit company which owns and manages 190-acres of property in southeast Huntington Beach. Our Mission is “Restoring and protecting the wetlands of Huntington Beach” and we have been doing this for 40 years. We serve the people of Huntington Beach and its surrounding cities, Orange, LA, and Riverside counties. We have restored 127-acres of wetlands which consist of the Talbert, Brookhurst, and Magnolia Marshes and are currently working on permitting to restore an additional 44-acre wetland known as the Newland Marsh.

    Position: HBWC Fellowship
    HBWC is seeking a fellow to work from March through October 2026, approximately 25 hours per week. An HBWC fellow will assist the organization with wetland and dune restoration projects, including planning and permitting, ecological monitoring, land stewardship, and volunteer coordination. The fellow will also assist with educational programming and public outreach with a focus on expanding outreach to indigenous and disadvantaged communities.

    Working on-site in Huntington Beach, CA for the majority of the hours is required. Candidates should be comfortable working outdoors in uneven, muddy conditions. The ideal candidate is an individual pursuing a career in habitat restoration, environmental education, or similar field.

    General Hours of Operation:
    Monday - Thursday: 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
    Fridays 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. 
    Saturdays variable: 3rd Saturday of the month 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., 2nd & 4th Saturday 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

    Climate Science Alliance

    The Climate Science Alliance Coastal Fellow will support our team's efforts to advance coastal co-stewardship in Southern California through relationship building, and convening and training experiences. The Fellow will become embedded into the Alliance team and will support, guide, and lead varying aspects of our coastal programs. 

    The Fellow must be located in San Diego County and have experience working with both Tribes and coastal managers. Additionally, experience working with San Diego County Tribes specifically, as well as the California State Coastal Conservancy and/or California Department of Fish and Wildlife, is a plus.
