DrawBridge will provide ample support to finalize this plan. Focus on what the children/families will DO. We especially encourage sharing cultural traditions and skills rooted in unique life experience!
The options are endless: All mediums are welcome—from decorating cookies, live drawing, comics, digital art, to storytelling and movement. There is no limit to creative expression!
Need inspiration? Here are some examples of what your 1-hour session could look like:
Sharing History & Craft: "My grandmother taught me how to honor ancestors at Dia de los Muertos. We would follow a simple structure: Intro: Sharing history, colors, and examples (10 min). Activity: Sculpting sugar skulls with clay and painting them with vibrant designs (40 min). Closing: We will set up a small, temporary altar together to display our creations (10 min). Back-up Activity: Watercoloring a picture representing a loved one."
Collage Storytelling: "For one hour, we will focus on collage storytelling using only materials found at the site, like magazines, stickers, and natural materials. We will use these pieces to build a visual map of the things we love most about our neighborhood and share them with the group."
Musical Expression: "I know how to make music with common household items or found objects. We could spend the hour creating our own percussion instruments (using plastic bottles, rocks, rubber bands) and then learning a very simple rhythm together as a group. I can lead this session entirely in Portuguese."
