• Queer Dungeon ME Rules

    Updated 11/22/25
A rainbow circle with text reading "The QDen" against a trans pride flag background.
  • Play generally allowed: impact, sensation, wax, needles and sharps, rope and bondage, electricity, pet play and primal, and wrestling.

QDen safewords: We use the “stoplight system” for house safewords and recommend that all members use them. Safewords can be called at any time for any reason by any scene participant. Ignoring a safeword call from your partner(s) is a consent violation. If you are unfamiliar with safewords, please speak with a DM before playing.

    • Green: Everything is good
    • Yellow: Pause and check in with your partner(s)
    • Red: Play ends immediately.
    • Blue: Medical issue.

There will be 1 Dungeon Monitor (DM) on each floor of the playspace. Consider them your lifeguards for the event. If a DM has a question about your scene, please be respectful and know that they have your best interests at heart. DMs cannot be everywhere at once, and taking care of our community is a group responsibility. If you hear somebody call a safeword without a response, amplify that safeword. We encourage you to seek out a DM if you are unsure about the safety of the play you are watching.

Repeated infractions of the rules, harassment, bigotry and/or disrespectful behavior towards other members may lead to being removed from current events without refund and/or uninvited from future events. When possible, we prioritize restorative justice actions over permanent bans and will work with people within our capacity so that all can participate in our space safely.

If you have any questions, concerns, or would like clarification regarding your intended play, please speak with an organizer either in advance of the event or prior to beginning play.

    General Space Rules

    • Don’t assume people’s pronouns, gender, or kink role. If you are unsure, just ask!
    • Limit fragrances and smoke smells. At a minimum, don't wear perfume or cologne.
    • Prepare your space. For activities involving blood, wax, oils, or other fluids, protect the equipment with tarps, chucks, saran wrap, and/or drop cloths as needed.
    • Clean up. Wipe down equipment when you are done. If you cannot find the sanitizing wipes, please ask a DM. Make sure you’ve left nothing behind (phone, water, clothes, jewelry etc.).
    • Don’t monopolize equipment. If the same person/group has been part of 2 consecutive scenes on the same piece of equipment, they should relocate to another area to allow others to use the equipment.
    • Keep space uncluttered. Do not leave your personal gear in play spaces or on chairs. We have cubbies in the lounge area.
    • Don’t touch others without consent nor things that are not yours.
    • Clothing: At a minimum, genitals and anuses must be covered at all times. Tops are optional.
    • Alcohol & Weed: Consumption of intoxicants is not allowed on site. Please be mindful to limit the smell of smoke/weed that may be on your clothes as this can be triggering to some members. If you come to an event not fully sober, you are responsible for disclosing this prior to any play. If a DM or organizer feels that your behavior is disruptive due to the use of intoxicants, you may be asked to leave.
    • Photos: Only photograph or post photos of people with their explicit consent. Bystanders must be FULLY blurred out including faces, hair, tattoos, body mods, mobility aids and clothing. Consider asking a friend to hold up a backdrop for you to avoid having people in your background.
    • Spectating: Watching others play is encouraged, but spectators should maintain at least 5 ft. away from backswings. Be mindful of loud conversations in the play area that may be disruptive to scene participants. Do not engage, either physically or verbally, with scene participants unless clearly invited. Just because you see other people engaging does not mean it is okay for you to do so.
    • Demos: All group demonstrations or presentations must be approved by the organizing team in advance of the desired event. We encourage peer-to-peer learning and skill sharing at an individual level with proper consent and negotiation.
    • No play in the bathrooms or kitchen area.
    • Do not climb on or hang upside down from the rigs.
    • Open flame must be monitored at all times and is allowed only in the high ceiling area.
    • Privacy of information: Respect the privacy of other attendees both during and after the event. Do not approach people in public without prior consent.

    Types of Play Rules

    • As these are explicitly queer events, we welcome all forms of gender expression. However, types of gender play that include components of misogyny and/or sexism (sissification play, for example) are not appropriate for our space.
    • While psychological edge play, including race play, hypnosis, police/military play, and heavy CNC, may be of value under certain circumstances and with the proper safeguards, we ask that you do not engage in these activities at QDen.
    • No sex or genital stimulation is allowed. We also do not allow play that involves the use of sex toys.
    • Wrestling mats: No standing takedowns. No more than 4 players on the mat at a time. Please use spatial awareness when sharing the space, and try not to run into others' play space.
Rope: All suspension tops must be approved by space leadership before play. Neck rope is allowed, but nothing resembling a noose is permitted, including a single column tie around the neck tied up to a hard point. However, no play that intentionally leads to loss of consciousness or blacking out. Stop the scene immediately if somebody is in rope and cannot breathe. If you see someone has lost consciousness, call BLUE and alert a DM to help lift. Other players should not abandon their bottom to help if it's not safe.
    • Watersports are not allowed in this space.
    • Abrasion play without blood is okay in all play spaces.
    • Needle and sharps play is allowed only in the designated room. Make sure to have a sterilized station and use saran wrap or chux on the equipment. No excessive blood. No intentional fluid bonding. Please be mindful of hair, sleeves, jewelry, and any other miscellaneous dangly bits. Do not recap needles. Dispose of sharps properly in the designated bins. Cutting is allowed in the designated room only. Deep cutting or scarification is ill advised and allowed only with DM approval. Branding is not allowed.
