  • Troubleshooting: Device Won’t Charge or Power On

Here are a few quick steps to try that usually solve this issue:

    1. Charge the device overnight.
If the battery has been in storage or fully depleted, it can take several hours to “wake up” before any lights turn on.

    2. Try a different charging cable and wall adapter.
Faulty or low-power chargers are a common cause.

    3. Plug directly into a wall outlet.
Avoid laptops, power strips, or USB hubs.

    4. Make sure the cable is fully inserted.
It should sit securely in the charging port.

If the battery has been in storage or fully depleted, it can take several hours to “wake up” before any lights turn on.

  • Troubleshooting: Device is working but the lid doesn't stick to the jar after it is finished.

If the Mason Genie runs normally but the lid doesn’t stay on afterward, try these quick checks:

    1. Make sure the jar rim is completely clean and dry.
Even a small amount of moisture, crumbs, or residue can prevent a proper seal.
    2. Check that you’re using a compatible lid and jar.
The Mason Genie only works with the standard mason jar lid.  Make sure the ring is not on the jar when using the Mason Genie.  Used lids can absolutely work!  Just make sure they aren't too bent, otherwise they won't form a good seal.

    3. Check the gasket alignment inside the Mason Genie.
The gasket should sit flat and evenly around the edge. A twisted, lifted, or misaligned gasket can prevent proper suction.
    4.  Line the lid directly on the mouth of the mason jar and press the Mason Genie down firmly on top.
Make sure it’s centered and fully in contact with the jar rim.  If it is misaligned, that can prevent a seal from forming.

    5. Run the sealing cycle for the full 60 seconds.
The Mason Genie will shut off automatically after 60 seconds.

    6. Gently wiggle the Mason Genie from side to side while pulling upwards away from the mason jar to remove it.
Twisting and using excessive force can cause the lid to get "stuck" in the Mason Genie and break the seal when pulling it off of the mason jar.

  • Troubleshooting: Device gets stuck on the jar.

If the Mason Genie is hard to remove after sealing, try these quick tips:

    1. Avoid pulling straight up with force.  Gently wiggle the device while lifting.
Pulling up can cause more suction.  A slight twist can break the suction and release the device more easily.
    2. Run the Mason Genie for one more cycle.
Sometimes a second cycle helps the pressure equalize and makes the device release more easily.

    3. Check the gasket alignment inside the Mason Genie.
The gasket should sit flat and evenly around the edge. A twisted, lifted, or misaligned gasket can prevent easy removal.
    4. Make sure the lid is centered before sealing.
A lid that’s off-center can wedge the device in place.

  • Troubleshooting: Jars Are Not Staying Sealed

If your jars lose their vacuum seal over time, try these quick tips:

    1. Check the jar rim.
Make sure the rim is completely clean and dry. Any moisture or debris will break the seal.
    2. Check the lid.
The flat lid doesn't have to be new but it should be in good condition. Bent or warped lids won’t hold a vacuum seal for long.  If in doubt, try a new lid.

    3. Confirm the lid is centered.
If the lid isn’t seated evenly, air can slowly leak back in.
    4. Use a cupcake liner for powdery contents.
This keeps flour, spices, and other fine ingredients away from the rim so the seal stays clean.  The powders can get sucked onto the rim during vacuum sealing and compromise the seal.

    5. Prep fruits and vegetables properly for storage.Fresh produce (berries, leafy greens) can “sweat,” creating moisture and gas that break the seal. Ensure items are fully dry and place a dry paper towel at the bottom of the jar to absorb excess moisture.

  • Troubleshooting: Vacuum Genie

If your Vacuum Genie isn’t sealing as expected, here are a few quick tips that usually help:

    1. Give it a full charge.
A low battery can weaken suction. Charge the Vacuum Genie until the indicator light shows it’s full.

    2. Check the seal on the bag.
Make sure the zipper strip is fully pressed shut before vacuuming.  Use the plastic tab to ensure it's fully sealed.  Even a tiny gap will let air back in.

    3. Check that the silicone gasket is in place.
The silicone gasket helps the Vacuum Genie create a snug seal on the bag’s air valve. If it’s missing or out of place, air will slip out and prevent proper suction.

    4. Position the pump correctly.
Place the Vacuum Genie directly over the circular white air valve and hold it upright to ensure proper suction.

    5. Check the valve on the bag.
Ensure the valve is clean, flat, and free of crumbs or debris so it can close fully.

    6. Try a different bag.
If the valve is bent or worn from repeated use, switching to a fresh bag can solve the issue.
    7. Keep the bag contents below the valve.
Make sure no food, liquids, or bulky items are pushing on the valve area.
