When: Wednesday, January 21st, 2026 from 8:25 AM to 12:00 PM.

Where: Baxter Academy, 185 Lancaster Street Portland, ME 04101

What: A day of activities at Baxter Academy hosted by our teachers and guided by current students for prospective students to experience a day at Baxter.

About Transportation

Our yellow school buses will be operating on January 21st and students can ride in from our various bus stops in Lewiston, Topsham, Yarmouth, Gray, Windham, Gorham, and Scarborough. A bus schedule for this day can be found by clicking here and going to the second page (half-day schedule).

If you wish to use public transportation, our campus is located a few blocks from the Metro PULSE station, which serves as a hub for Southern Maine's public transportation network. Please let us know if you have any questions about how to get here.

Doors open at 7:30 AM and close at 12:30 PM. Parents can pick up or drop off on Lancaster or Elm Street. We ask that parents dropping off or picking up students do so before 8:15 AM and/or after 12:10 PM to give our yellow school buses time to load and unload.

About Our Special Education Program

We will have our Special Education team on site for this event. If your student will need any coordination with that department, please email our Special Education Director Laura Parks at laura.parks@baxter-academy.org before the event.
About Our Lunch Program

Baxter Academy does not have a traditional lunch program or kitchen facilities. The school’s model breaks students out into the community for open-campus lunch. We will not be doing open-campus lunch during Prospective Student Visiting Day. We also partner with local restaurants to provide meals for our students.

Lunch orders for Visiting Day are open until Friday, January 16th at 1:00 PM. Meals ordered will be provided at no charge to the family. Students can also bring their own lunches and utilize our refrigerators and microwaves that are available in the Great Room. Select from the options below!
