GenEd Teacher Fellowship Program Application

The Genocide Education Project’s Teacher Fellowship Program provides professional development for teaching about human rights and genocide, with a comparative examination of examples of genocide, and a particular focus on the Armenian case. The initial phase of the program will take place in Yerevan, Armenia, July 11-20, 2026, including educational sessions for fifteen U.S. educators at the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute, and visits to related historical and cultural sites. During the program’s second phase, GenEd Teacher Fellows will provide professional development workshops to other educators in their region under the supervision of The Genocide Education Project. All program expenses (more than $10,000 per person) are covered through generous contributions to The Genocide Education Project. A $400 deposit by participants will be reimbursed upon successful completion of the full program. The deadline for application submission is Sunday, January 4, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. PST.

The letter must confirm support for the candidate’s participation in this fellowship program, including leading one or more professional development workshops for at least 20 educators between August 2026 - June 2027. Preliminary Participation Agreement

If selected as a GenEd Teacher Fellow, I acknowledge by my signature below that I agree to:
1. Attend all required virtual meetings before and after the trip to Armenia
2. Follow COVID protocols set by GenEd prior to and during time in Armenia
3. Attend all required activities in Armenia
4. Obtain medical verification of physical ability to manage the rigors of the trip
  1. Travelers should be in good health and comfortable sitting for extended periods of time. Excursions include bus rides on bumpy roads, walks on uneven terrain, and sometimes climbing stairs without handrails.
5. Exhibit professionalism in behavior and attire during program activities
6. Lead one or more substantial in-service or comparable activities for at least twenty educators by June 15, 2027
7. Submit required in-service report by June 30, 2027
8. Allow name, likeness, audio/video appearances, and school affiliation to be used in The Genocide Education Project website, social media, and publicity materials
9. Submit a deposit of $400 within two weeks of acceptance into the program
