Medical student scholarships are to award excellence in academic performance amongst medical students who are Canadian citizens of Greek heritage. Medical students studying nationally or internationally are eligible to apply.

To accept the award, scholarship recipients are highly encouraged to attend the applicable event where the scholarships will be formally announced and presented, such as the next Hellenic Professionals’ Gala or another equivalent event.

Reflecting on the legacy of Dr. Stella Psarakis—who broke barriers as a trailblazing surgeon and exemplified leadership in fields where representation is limited—please write a cover letter that addresses the following:

1. How do your own qualifications and experiences reflect a commitment to overcoming obstacles or challenging norms as you prepare for your career?
2. Provide one specific example or experience (past, present, or anticipated) in which you demonstrated leadership or resilience in a challenging environment (for example: overcoming a personal or professional barrier, pioneering a new initiative, or succeeding in an area of limited representation).
3. Looking ahead, how will you integrate these values into your future role—honoring Dr. Psarakis's dedication to mentoring others and serving the community?

Your cover letter should be no more than 500 words. We are looking for resilience, ambition, and a clear connection between your personal journey and Dr. Psarakis’s legacy of breaking barriers and compassionate leadership.
