    2025-2026 Bethel Baptist Church Scholarship Application

  • Qualified Applicants will be eligible to receive scholarship awards in honor of former pastors of Bethel Baptist Church for community service, academic achievement and exemplary effort.

    • Maximum Number of Awards – Six (6)
    • Maximum Award Amount & Maximum Per Student – $1,000
    • If community college, trade or technical school, maximum scholarship amount is $500.
    • Minimum Award Amount – $ 500.
    • The committee reserves the right to determine the scholarships to be distributed based on the candidate pool.
    • The committee is not obligated to distribute all scholarships if qualified candidates do not apply.

    NOTE: All awards will be distributed directly to the school. Once a scholarship has been awarded, students must provide the name and address of the school’s business office and their student number to the BEC Scholarship Committee before a check can be cut and mailed.

  • Students applying for the BEC Scholarship must meet the following minimum criteria:

    • Graduating High School Senior
    • Member of Bethel Baptist Church a minimum one (1) year
    • Active participant in Bethel’s Youth Ministry Activities (Choir, Usher, Dance, Daughters of Virtue, Sons of Integrity, etc
    • Have a minimum weighted GPA of 2.5.
    • Planning to enroll at an accredited institution of higher learning (Students must provide proof of enrollment at a Four-Year or Two-Year College or University, or Trade School by January 15 of the year following high school graduation before funds are awarded)

    Students must provide the following documents to be considered for a scholarship award:

    • Completed BEC Scholarship Application
    • Three (3) Letters of Recommendation (One max for each) 1- Ministry Leader, 2 -School Official/Teacher, 3 - Professional/Employer/Community Organization Leader
    • Typed 300-350 Word Essay Responding to 1 of 3 Questions
    • Transcript which includes the first nine weeks of the current Academic School year
  • Questions can be directed to becscholarship@gmail.com. All materials must be submitted online no later than February 22, 2026, 11:59 pm.

  • All Scholarship applicants are required to submit a 300 – 350 word essay in response to one of the following questions below. No plagiarism will be allowed; the essay must be in your own words. 

    Choose One. 

    1) Tell about a time when you stepped up as a leader. Describe an event in which you took a leadership role and what you learned about yourself

    2) Tell us about a time when you failed, what you learned and how you'll apply that learning going forward. 

    3) Where do you see yourself in five years, and why? Who has most influenced your future vision?
