2025-2026 BEC COMMUNITY IMPACT SCHOLARSHIP
Since May of 2011, the Bethel Enrichment Center (BEC) of Kannapolis, NC has been committed to improving the community by creating programs that focus on health and wellness, individual empowerment, crisis assistance and education. The BEC understands that education leads to empowerment and empowerment to stronger communities, so we are delighted to offer the BEC Community Impact Scholarship.

The new Community Impact Scholarship represents the realization of the BEC’s desire to extend our current scholarship program, in existence since 2005, to deserving students in the greater Cabarrus & Rowan County region. Because we believe character, leadership, scholarship and service are integral to the success of our community, the $500 BEC Community Impact Scholarship will be awarded to one student who exhibits these qualities from each of the eleven high schools in closest proximity to the Bethel Enrichment Center.

Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:

1.Be a graduating high school senior at one of the following area High Schools:

* A.L. Brown	* Cox Mill	* Salisbury
* Carson	* Hickory Ridge	* South Rowan
* Central Cabarrus	* Jay M. Robinson	* West Cabarrus
* Concord	* Northwest Cabarrus

2.Have one parent of African American descent or Black Caribbean heritage

3.Have a minimum G.P.A of 3.0 (weighted)

4.Exhibit leadership, scholarship, character and service in the community

5.Plan to enroll at an accredited institution of higher learning

Students applying for the BEC Scholarship must meet the following minimum criteria:

1. Completed BEC Community Impact Application

2. Three (3) letters of recommendation (One max from each) 1- ministry leader, 2 -school official/teacher, 3 - professional/employer/community organization leader

3. Typed 300-350-word essay responding to question

4. Transcript for the first nine weeks of the 2025-2026 academic school year

All Bethel Enrichment Center Scholarship applicants are required to submit a 300 – 350 word essay in response to one of the following questions below. No plagiarism will be allowed; the essay must be in your own words.

1. Who is a community leader that inspires you and why? Share how you expect this person will influence your future.

2. Please share what you feel is the most pressing need in our community today and what you hope to do to make a difference.

3.Explain a leadership role you've held within a community organization and the challenges you have faced and overcome.
