Trans Affirm Subcommittee Application
  • Trans Affirm Subcommittee Application

Apply to join the Subcommittee at Trans Affirm by providing your details, experience, and portfolio!
  • Format: (000) 000-0000.
  • We recognize this is an unpaid volunteer role and aim to remain flexible with your availability. We ask for an estimated commitment of 5 to 10 hours per month. Consistent communication about your capacity is essential if personal obligations affect your participation. We also seek individuals who can work independently while reliably completing assigned tasks. Most subcommittees meet once per month via Zoom.

Applicants for a Subcommittee Chair position should be prepared for additional responsibility. Chairs lead their team, coordinate progress, and provide updates to the Trans Affirm board.

Subcommittee participants are not members of the Trans Affirm board. They serve specifically on project-based teams and are expected to follow all Trans Affirm policies and board decisions. Chairs may have a more visible role because their positions operate within defined term periods. You can leave a subcommittee or rejoin at any time, but we expect you to give notice and communicate effectively.

For questions, contact info@transaffirm.org before submitting an application.

  • Please note that this position is open to Idaho residents only!
Trans Affirm serves communities across the entire state, with a special focus on rural areas where access to gender-affirming resources is often limited. Because of that, larger cities like Boise may not see as many events or programs, as we prioritize reaching smaller or underserved towns first.

  • Demographic Information

  • Please note that our board follows a policy ensuring that we do not have more cisgender members than trans members. This helps us keep the voices of those we serve at the center of our leadership. While this is a bit more lenient in subcommittees, we still aspire to keep the general consensus Trans+.

That said, ALLIES and cisgender individuals are still very much welcome to apply! Allies play an important role in our work. All cisgender board members will be asked to complete a short training on LGBTQ+ topics to ensure our board space remains safe, inclusive, and well-informed.

Divulging criminal record will NOT disqualify you from the board, so please be honest! Do not include expunged records unless necessary. We do not drug test.

Providing your ethnicity, race, or disability information is completely optional and will never negatively affect your application. Many of our current board members are neurodivergent, and we encourage applicants of all abilities and backgrounds to apply.

Applications from BIPOC2S, trans, and gender-diverse individuals will be prioritized in order to strengthen diversity and ensure that people directly impacted by our work are guiding the organization
