To move forward, all new volunteers should make sure the current onboarding schedule works for them. Please visit the volunteer section of the NC Zoo website to review the timeline for each opportunity. Adult programs for people ages 16 and up include: Wildlife Rehab Center, Investigation Stations, Honey Bee Habitat, Giraffe Deck, Zoo Host, Zoo Receptionist (18+), Horticulture, and Behavioral Animal Research (18+).Family programs for youth ages 12-15 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian include: Wildlife Rehab Center, Investigation Stations, and Honey Bee Habitat.
NOTE: Teen volunteer opportunities (for youth ages 12–17 volunteering on their own) are offered Summer only. ALL teen applications open on March 1st. Please do not submit this interest form now — teen applications are only accepted starting March 1st.
