  • HUSI Class of 2026

While coursework, in and out of the classroom, is the foundation of the Harvard Ukrainian Summer Institute, participation in HUSI means participating in the extracurricular program and in the HUSI community.
  • The Harvard Ukrainian Summer Institute (HUSI) offers seven weeks of intensive, accredited university instruction in Ukrainian studies. The program includes academic courses offered through the Harvard Summer School (HSS), a weekly public lecture series with special guests, and private events for HUSI students, such as orientation, a welcome reception, study breaks, a closing ceremony, and more! Every summer since 1971, HUSI has brought together exceptional undergraduates, graduate students, and working professionals from around the world. The Harvard Ukrainian Summer Institute provides students with the opportunity for academic advancement, career development, and membership in a diverse and interdisciplinary community of scholars that spans six decades of HUSI cohorts.

Learn more about enrollment in the HUSI Class of 2026 here.

  • HUSI Scholarships

The Harvard Ukrainian Research Institute (HURI) awards a large number of scholarships to support participation in the Harvard Ukrainian Summer Institute (HUSI). Applications for the HUSI Scholarship are due on February 12, 2026: https://www.huri.harvard.edu/husi-scholarships
  • On-Campus Housing

PLEASE NOTE: Students will need to request on-campus housing directly from Harvard Summer School. Please be mindful of the associated deadlines >> https://summer.harvard.edu/
  • Visa Sponsorship and International Student Guidelines

PLEASE NOTE: Students are responsible for requesting visa sponsorship directly from the Harvard Summer School. Please be mindful of the associated deadlines and requirements for international students >> https://summer.harvard.edu/adult-college-students/course-registration/international-student-registration/
  • English Language Proficiency (ELP) Requirement

If your native language is not English, the Harvard Summer School (HSS) requires proof of English Language Proficiency (ELP) before you will be allowed to register for courses or request a visa. Please note that this is a HSS requirement, so HSS should be contacted with any questions and all english proficiency documentation should be submitted to HSS directly (not to HURI): proficiency@summer.harvard.edu

Please carefully review the deadlines and requirements in advance: https://summer.harvard.edu/adult-college-students/course-registration/english-proficiency-requirement/

In many cases, HURI awards scholarships to students who are unable to accept the funding or participate in HUSI because they do not meet this requirement in time. For students who need a visa, the final deadline to submit your ELP documents is in early April. However, we recommend that students submit their documentation for review as soon as possible and no later than April 1st.
