    Thank you for your interest in the Retired and 2026 Transitional Status ACVO Membership Categories. Please complete this form by 11:59pm MST on Thursday, January 15th, 2026, in order for your application to be reviewed by the ACVO Board of Regents. After Thursday, January 16th, 2026, the ACVO BOR will review all applications. The ACVO office will reach out within the next week with the decision. Those who are approved for either category will be eligible for full ACVO Member benefits at half price dues amount and will need to submit dues prior to the end of month deadline in January

  • Requirements:
    More information regarding these categories are outlined in the ACVO Policies & Procedures document (Section 8.00).

    Retired Status
    1. Must be retired from Veterinary Ophthalmology.
    2. Working eight (8) hours or less per week in the veterinary ophthalmology field.
    3. Must be in current, good standing with the ACVO.

    *Note: Once approved by the BOR, retired status does not need to applied for yearly.

    2026 Transitional Member Status
    Transitional Membership may be requested by an ACVO Diplomate Member in good standing for the following reasons:


    1. Circumstances will cause the Diplomate Member to practice veterinary ophthalmology less than eight hours per week for one year or more.
    2. Dues forbearance may be extended up to five years provided the Diplomate Member submits an application to the BOR annually. After five years, the Transitional Member will either convert back to Diplomate Member status when submitting dues for renewal or apply for Retired Member status.

    *Note: Transitional Member Status must be requested and approved by the BOR each year, prior to the late deadline of January 31st to avoid the late processing fee.
