  • From 1 January 2015, we Schofields Flying Club LTD can be prevented from issuing you with a nationally recognised VET qualification or statement of attainment when you complete your course if you do not have a Unique Student Identifier (USI). In addition, we are required to include your USI in the data we submit to the National Centre for Vocational Education Research (NCVER). If you have not yet obtained a USI you can apply for it directly at https://www.usi.gov.au/students/create-your-usi/.

    You may already have a USI if you have done any nationally recognised training, which could include training at work, completing a first aid course or RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol) course, getting a white card or studying at a TAFE or training organisation.   • Should your application be accepted, your enrolment is not finalised until you demonstrate or provide evidence of the following:

    • Age: 18 years and over
    • Education: Completion of 12 years of high school, a Higher School Certificate or equivalent
    • Digital literacy: Intermediate computer skills and the ability to navigate simple software to complete the theory components of this course and must be able to use intermediate level Word features in order produce and present word-processed documents/ reports. Must be familiar with forms of electronic communication including email and messaging services/apps

    May conduct the following screening and assessment at a designated SFC International affiliated facility with an SFC designated agent.

    Numeracy Assessment

    • An online numeracy assessment is designed to ensure that all applicants have the foundational numeracy skills required.

    Language, literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Assessment, plus Digital Literacy Assessment

    • An online assessment designed to ensure all applicants have the foundational language, literacy and digital technology skills required. This is in addition to requirement for international students to provide evidence they meet the English language requirements for the course in their application (e.g. IELTS).

    Aptitude Test and Personality Profile

    • During the COMPASS Aptitude Test, a variety of hand- eye-foot coordination, spatial orientation, multi-task management and short-term memory assessments will be conducted via an online portal.
    • The COMPASS Personality Test will deliver a summary of the student’s profile based on 15 personality competencies.

    Flight Screening Assessment

    • The Practical Assessment is designed to give the applicant a chance to experience a taste of flight training prior to commencing the Airline Pilot Package. Throughout the session the student will be assessed in three main areas: Airmanship, Execution and Acumen.
    • Trial Flight: Students undergo a two-hour trial flight assessment with SFC or an SFC affiliated agent at a designated secondary offshore assessment location.

    Screening Interview

    • During the Screening Interview (onsite, at SFC for onshore applicants, or, via secure digital teleconferencing platform for offshore applicants) the student will meet with individuals from different departments, including direct flight training staff, within SFC. The objectives of the interview are to assess motivation, discuss application results and course requirements.
    • The student will need to provide proof of identity (original form of ID required: Passport and other documents provided in the International Student’s application for enrolment).
    • The student’s use and command of the English language throughout the interview will be assessed to ensure that conversational English is at a level to be understood, despite IELTS scores. If the screening staff have difficulty in understanding the student’s language/accent the student may be referred to the HOO/RTO Manager for a further assessment. The HOORTO Manager may place a conditional requirement on the student’s enrolment which may involve accessing and completing a SFC affiliated English Language Course. This may be at the cost of the student.
