Award criteria and eligibility
All individuals submitted must be ICE members (any grade) located within the ICE North East region.
The Sustainability Champion Award is awarded to someone having a transformational impact, championing sustainabile practices across the industry.
It recognises the exceptional efforts of an individual who has displayed outstanding leadership in driving sustainability practices within civil engineering and the built environment. Their dedication and ability to inspire and involve colleagues, clients, and the supply chain have paved the way for a more environmentally conscious approach in their field. This also encompasses a wide range of actions aimed at promoting and achieving the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Examples of environmental sustainability could include action to promote and deliver the UN’s SDGs including reducing carbon emissions, improving flood resilience, mitigation or prevention, biodiversity, air quality, sustainable transport or infrastructure, reduced waste and the circular economy, active etc.
Criteria to consider for this award include:
• Has implemented measures to enhance environmental sustainability.
• Has encouraged clients to explore alternative and ecologically friendly choices for their project.
• Is dedicated to promoting and spreading awareness about the importance of environmental sustainability.
• Has innovatively implemented strategies to enhance environmental sustainability on a specific initiative.
• Has engaged in community-based activities to advocate for the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically focusing on initiatives related to environmental preservation and sustainability.
