The Toni McCullough High School Skin Equity Scholarship
  • Named in honor of renowned Savannah-based dermatologist Dr. Toni Lewis McCullough, the Toni McCullough High School Skin Equity Scholarship supports aspiring high school students with an interest in medicine and dermatology. This scholarship is designed to help students from diverse backgrounds access early educational opportunities and meaningful experiences in the medical field.

Dr. McCullough has exemplified what it means to combine passion with purpose. A proud Savannah native and valedictorian of St. Vincent’s Academy, she went on to earn her undergraduate degree in Zoology from the University of Georgia and her medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia. After initially beginning her residency in Ophthalmology at Penn State, she courageously redirected her path to pursue her true calling—Dermatology—returning to MCG to complete her training.

Since opening her solo practice, Chatham Dermatology, in 1994, Dr. McCullough has built a reputation for delivering personalized, compassionate, and comprehensive care. She prioritizes patient education, refuses to rush through appointments, and ensures every person she treats feels heard and respected. Her approach, which blends state-of-the-art diagnostics with old-fashioned attentiveness, reflects her belief that medicine is not just a job—it’s a calling and a joy.

Outside of her clinical work, Dr. McCullough is a dedicated wife, mother, fitness enthusiast, award-winning speaker, and accomplished singer. She is deeply committed to the Savannah community and remains actively involved with the Savannah Children’s Theatre, a nonprofit that celebrates the power of storytelling and expression.

The Toni McCullough High School Skin Equity Scholarship celebrates Dr. McCullough’s legacy by uplifting future leaders in dermatology and medicine who embody curiosity, compassion, and a commitment to health equity. Through this scholarship, we honor her example—and invest in the next generation of changemakers.

This award is made possible by the DermElevate Scholarship Initiative, a nonprofit committed to making education accessible and empowering students from all walks of life to reach their full potential.
