    Design a Mini-Golf Hole for The Other Art Fair Dallas
  • The Other Art Fair is seeking imaginative and boundary-pushing artists, designers, and fabricators to create artist-designed mini-golf holes for our upcoming Dallas edition this spring.

    This is your chance to turn your artistic vision into an interactive installation that merges art and play. Selected artists will conceptualize, design, and fabricate their own mini-golf hole, to be featured as part of a playable feature at the fair.

    We’re looking for

    • Bold, creative, and engaging designs
    • Playable and functional mini-golf holes
    • Designs should reflect your unique artistic voice, be visually engaging, and/or conceptually interesting
    • Bonus points for interactivity, humor, narrative, or Dallas-inspired elements
    • No branded or commercial content unless part of a fair approved partnership.
    • Durable construction suitable for thousands of fairgoers


    Important Details

    • Location: The Other Art Fair Dallas at Dallas Market Hall, May 7th-10th, 2026.
    • Production: Artists are responsible for fabricating and installing their own holes; The Other Art Fair will provide logistical support, golf clubs and balls, scorecards, signage and onsite staff supervision. 
    • Transportation: Selected artist(s) are expected to deliver their designs (assembled/disassembled) to/from Dallas Market Hall in Dallas on dates outlined on the next page.
    • Budget: A $500 artist fee will be provided; otherwise, artists should plan for self-funded or sponsored builds.
    • Exposure: This is a high-visibility opportunity, with extensive foot traffic, press attention, and social media coverage
    • Deadline: We are reviewing applications on a rolling basis, but hope to have all interested parties submit by March 5th.

  • BUILD & DESIGN GUIDELINES

  • Size & Footprint:

    • Maximum footprint: 8 ft long x 4 ft wide (can be smaller, but not larger)
    • Height limit: 5 ft max (including obstacles or sculptures), to avoid sightline issues
    • Golf hole must be a standard 4.25" cup size at a minimum 4" depth
      Successful designs will most likely include a raised surface to accommodate the golf hole.
    • Modular construction encouraged for easier transport and setup

    Playability:

    • Hole must be fully playable by one person using a standard putter and golf ball
    • We ask that the design accommodate standard 6-stroke mini golf scoring rules.  
    • Must include a clear "tee-off" area and a final hole or target where the ball finishes
    • Avoid extremely difficult, gimmicky, or frustrating elements—it should be fun for all ages, simple builds are welcome!
    • Accessibility: Consider fairgoers of all ages and physical abilities

    Materials & Safety:

    • All structures must be sturdy, stable, and safe for public interaction
    • No sharp edges, loose parts, or trip hazards
    • Use durable materials that can withstand 4 full days of foot traffic (e.g., plywood, turf, PVC, etc.)
    • Indoor venue—no need to weatherproof, but surfaces should be cleanable
    • There will not be access to power outlets, so all technical elements must be battery supported. 

    Timeline

    • February 2026: 
      Applications will be open and selected on a rolling basis, we encourage you to submit as soon as possible. 

    • March 2026:
      Application Deadline: March 5th
      If selected you’ll receive an agreement and receive 50% of the Fee

    • April 2026: 
      We will collect images and behind the scenes footage to help build our marketing and PR campaign to promote the mini golf feature. 
      April 6th: 25% of fee is paid

    • May 2026
      Installation (drop-off & build days): May 6th-7th
      Fair Dates: May 7th-10th
      Deinstall: May 10th (6-9pm)
      Post fair, remaining 25% fee is paid

  • APPLICATION

    Only one application per Mini-Golf Hole Design is needed. If you are applying as part of a team/group, please only submit one application.
