The Ann Arbor Police Department thanks you for your interest in the 2026 Community Police Academy! Classes will be held on Thursday evenings from 6PM to 8:30PM from February 12th to April 2nd at the Ann Arbor Police Department, 301 E Huron Street Ann Arbor, MI 48104. There is no cost to attend our academy. You must attend at least 6 sessions to be eligible for graduation. Although graduates are not trained for police duty, they come away with an insider’s view of what it is like to be a police officer in Ann Arbor.
Participants are introduced to various aspects of police work, aimed at creating awareness, understanding, and building stronger community relations.
If you are interested in applying, please complete the online academy application below. Participants must be 18 years of age, have no felony convictions or significant criminal history, and complete a background check. Preference is given to those who live, work or study in the City of Ann Arbor.
