The scholarship is a one-time award ranging from $1,000 - $2,500 for students attending a 4-year college/university, a junior college, community college, or technical school.
To be eligible for a scholarship:
- The applicant must be a graduating high school student during the Spring 2026 semester with plans to attend an accredited college/university, community college, junior college, or technical school.
- The applicant must reside in the Greater Houston Metropolitan area.
- The applicant must have at least a 3.0 (unweighted) cumulative GPA.
- The applicant must submit a completed application and essay in this form to be considered for the award.
- The applicant must provide a transcript.
- The applicant must submit two (2) letters of recommendation from leaders familiar with the applicant (i.e. school counselor, teacher, coach, mentor, church or community leader - can not be a family member).
- Applications must be submitted electronically by 11:59pm CST March 7, 2026
- The applicant must be a citizen of the United States of America.
General Information
- Incomplete applications will not be considered.
- Students may apply for multiple scholarships but can only be awarded one.
- Students are reminded to use correct essay structure and to check grammar and spelling before submitting their application.
- The decision of the judges is final.
- Scholarship winners will be notified no later than April 3, 2026 and invited to attend a reception on May 23, 2026.
- Proof of enrollment in the form of a tuition fee receipt and class schedule must be presented before award is disbursed to the student.

- Adams-Lindsey Merit & Mathematics Scholarship - For a student pursuing a degree in Math.
- Betsy Johnson Law & Government Scholarship - For a student pursuing a degree in History, Law, Criminal Justice, Juvenile Justice, Public Service, Sociology, or Humanities.
- Divine 49 Undergraduate Scholarship* - The purpose of this scholarship is to support and uplift undergraduate students who demonstrate a passion for learning and a commitment to the pursuit of higher education.
- Doris Durant Delaney Scholarship* - For a student who plans to attend an HBCU, not required, but preferably Prairie View A&M University.
- Dr. Marian Bonner Pre-Med Scholarship* - The purpose of this scholarship is to support a student aspiring to go to Medical school, Dental school, Podiatry or Veterinary school. Preference will be given to students planning to attend medical school to become physicians.
- Dr. Michael Milstead Academic Scholarship* - For an Africian American male student attending an HBCU (Historical Black College & University) in Texas, majoring in Sociology or any field in Education.
- Evelyn Ware Business Scholarship - For students pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Marketing Information Systems, or Economics.
- 47 Eyes of a Storm Scholarship* -The fund aims to support a deserving student with demonstrated determination, leadership and commitment to their community.
- Jewell Phillips Health & Sports/Fitness Scholarship - For a student pursing a degree in Kinesiology, Physical Therapy, Sports Medicine, Coaching, or Outdoor Education.
- John F. King Visual Arts Scholarship*one student who has demonstrated their passion for fine visual arts through original works in the form of drawings (pencil, pen, charcoal, acrylic, watercolor, etc.), paintings (oil,
watercolor, etc.), or sculpture. Must provide a clear photograph of one original drawing, painting, or sculpture.
- The Jones Hare Scholarship*- For a student that exhibit strong leadership skills through active involvement on their campus and/or in their community. This may include holding leadership positions in student organizations, mentoring peers, or contributing to programs that promote positive change.
- Jurleen Drummer Education Scholarship - For a student pursuing a degree in Education (math, history, business, biology, humanities, technology) that will lead to a teacher certification.
- Knight-Burkley/Phillips-Dupree Performing Arts Scholarship - For a student pursuing a degree in any Performing Arts category.
- Maye F. Hutson Leadership Scholarship (4) - For students pursuing a degree in General Studies or Public Health Programs.
- Maye F. Hutson Music/Arts Scholarship - For a student pursing a degree in Art, Music, or Performing Arts.
- Maye F. Hutson Nursing Scholarship - For a student pursuing a degree in Nursing, Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN).
- Mays Family Alief STEAM Scholarship* - For an Alief ISD student pursuing a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and/or Math.
- Raibon-Williams Education & Social Justice Scholarship - For students who are pursuing a degree in any teacher education field (Agriculture, Math, Science, Industrial Arts, Human Nutrition, Fashion Design, etc), Sociology, Criminal or Public Service.
- Rachel Roquemore Scholarship* - This scholarship seeks to support underrepresented high school student who are planning or pursing a career in accounting.
- Rebecca O. Jackson Math & Science Scholarship* - For a student who will attend a Historically Black College or University and major in Math, Science or Technology.
- The Robert L. Agnew and Bettie J. Agnew Memorial Scholarship* was created to honor the legacies Robert L. Agnew and Bettie J. Agnew for students who have been accepted to attend Prairie View A&M University or Texas Southern University.
- The Terri and Madelyn Gee Creative Excellence in Liberal Arts Scholarship* - This scholarship exist to champion African-American women who aspire to study and excel in the creative and liberal arts field where their voices, vision, and leadership are profoundly needed.
- The Theta Epsilon Fall '92 Memorial Scholarship* - This scholarship is established to honor the enduring legacy, sisterhood, and spirit of our cherished sorority sisters whose lives exemplified compassion, service, leadership, unwavering support and love for others. Celebrating their contributions to leadership and service and to continue their impact by empowering future generations. Applicant must have at least 50 volunteer service hours during their senior year.
- Tracey R. Lewis Leadership Scholarship* - For a student who has consistently demonstrated leadership abilities.
- Velma Dotson Math Scholarship - For students pursuing a degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) field.
- YELAH 360 Scholarship* - This scholarship is established to support a student raised by a single parent, grand-parent or foster parent with minimal or no funding assistance from one or both parents.
