Callejo-Botello Leadership Academy Application

Inspired by the success of the Latino Center for Leadership Development—which prepared more than 50 fellows from diverse backgrounds who now serve their communities in elected, appointed, and civic roles—the Callejo Leadership Academy launched its inaugural cohort in 2025. We are now accepting applications for the 2026 class, continuing our mission to cultivate leaders equipped to bring fresh ideas and meaningful change to meet the growing leadership needs of North Texas.
Alumni Spotlight

Our program has cultivated leaders serving at every level of government and public service, including: Assistant Deputy Secretary of Education Montserrat Garibay; New Mexico State Senator Cindy Nava; Texas State Representatives Victoria Neave and Ana-Maria Ramos; Dallas City Councilmember Jaime Resendez; Dallas ISD Board President Joe Carreon; Dallas ISD Trustee Byron Sanders; Austin City Councilmember Vanessa Fuentes; Terrell City Councilmember Mayrani Velazquez; Dallas College Trustee Monica Lira Bravo; Justice of the Peace Sasha Moreno; Dallas County Criminal Court Judge Dominique Torres Williams; former Cockrell Hill Councilmember Claudia Sandoval; and former Dallas ISD Trustee Justin Henry.
Program Schedule

The academy runs from February through September 2026, with four mandatory weekend seminars on the following dates:
- February 6-7
- April 10-11
- June 5–7
- August 28-30 (closing ceremony on Sunday)
Each of the first three seminars will start on Friday mornings, have a Friday evening dinner, and conclude on Saturday at 5pm. The August seminar will also include a Sunday afternoon closing ceremony.

Application Details
There is a $2,000 program fee for the academy. Payment options include:
- A one-time payment of $2,000
- Four payments of $500
- Eight monthly payments of $250
- Fundraising and/or sponsorship options available
A $250 deposit is required upon acceptance into the program.

What is the Callejo Leadership Academy?
The Callejo Leadership Academy focuses on preparing North Texas leaders with accelerated training to equip them for the campaign season and the challenges of public service.

Is the academy affiliated with LCLD?
Yes, the academy was inspired by the succesful LCLD. Organizes include the Founding Executive Director and first cohort alumni. The Callejo Leadership Academy is a program of the Callejo Botello Foundation (501(c)(3)).

Do you have to be Latino to apply for the academy?
No, individuals from any background are encouraged to apply.

Do I have to commit to attending all seminars if I'm accepted?
Yes.

Payment and Sponsorship Details
Checks should be made out to the “Callejo Botello Foundation.” Donations are tax-
deductible.

Cost of Participation
Selected participants will pay a $2,000 fee, with payment plans and limited scholarships available. Fees cover seminar expenses, speaker honorariums, meals, space rental, and materials.

Application Process
Applicants must submit an online application, resume, headshot, and participate in a virtual interview.

Application Timeline
- Open: December 3–20, 2025
- Decision Notifications: January 12, 2026

Eligibility
Applicants must reside in one of the following North Texas counties: Collin, Cooke, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Grayson, Hunt, Johnson, Kaufman, Parker, Rockwall, Summerville, or Tarrant.
