    Judge: Role Overview

    Volunteer Judges will evaluate students’ Concours d'art oratoire speeches, ask follow up questions, and select the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd-place winners with their judging team (two to three volunteers), according to the Concours d'art oratoire 2026 Evaluation Rubric. An advanced or native level of French is required.

    Room Host: Role Overview

    Room hosts direct competition sessions. They greet and welcome competitors and guests, allow judges to introduce themselves and facilitate the flow of the competition by calling up the competitors. You are responsible for timing each competitors’ speech and filling out the time keeping form. At the end you will distribute certificates to all participants. You will excel at this role if you’re confident in front of people. Aspiring teachers, this role is great for you! Ability to speak French is an asset and is required for Francophone categories.

    Between Concours d'art oratoire and Canadian Parents for French BC & Yukon

     
    Concours d'art oratoire is the premiere French public speaking competition in Canada. We partner with judges who seek to bring the highest standards to the Provincial competition in order to support excellence from each participating student.

    This form recognizes the agreement made between Canadian Parents for French BC & Yukon and   *   *   regarding their responsibilities as a judge for the May 2, 2026 Concours d'art oratoire.
     
    By signing this form, I agree to the following:
    1.   To attend and participate on May 2nd, 2026 as a judge at the Provincial semi-finals of Concours d'art oratoire .
    2.    To find a suitable replacement if unforeseen circumstances result in a cancellation within 2 weeks of the event, and notify the coordinator as soon as possible.
    3.   To attend an online orientation and training - April 29th at 3pm or 6pm.
    4.   To review the judge's package including rules and regulations established for this year's competition prior to the training.
    5.   To support impartial judging and work with the other judges to come to a final decision on the winners within the specified period of time according to the rules of the competition

The judge information package with the evaluation rubrics in French and English will be sent closer to the date of Concours d'art oratoire. Volunteer communications will begin in April.
