  • The Eastern New England College of Commissioner Science is sponsored by: Cape and Islands, Daniel Webster, Heart of New England, Katahdin Area, Mayflower, Narragansett, Pine Tree, and The Spirit of Adventure Councils.

    While primarily focused on the training and education requirements of Commissioners, this program is open to all registered adult leaders of the Boy Scouts of America, who are interested in seeing that our Youth receive a quality program.

    Training Classes

    Classes are separated into seven areas of study or tracts: Commissioner Basic Training, Bachelors of Commissioner Science, Masters of Commissioner Science, Doctorate of Commissioner Science, Roundtable Commissioner, Older Scouts Programming, and Continuing Education. (See the course catalog for list of courses by area of study).

    Participants may register for up to 6 one-hour sessions and will also receive Master’s level credit for attendance at the Keynote addressso, so may earn up to 7 course credits.  The Commissioner Basic Training courses are 3 hours each, so attendees who register for these courses will only be able to receive a maximum of 4 credits (3 sessions plus the Keynote address).  Attendance at these courses can lead to Associates, Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral Degree of Commissioner Science, or a Postgraduate certificate. To prepare for registering, please review the class schedule and course descriptions in the catalog.

    Course CED 828 - Discussion with the Keynote speaker, is being offered 3 times at 2:15, 3:15 and 4:15.  Each session is stand-alone class and the student needs only register for one session.

    Commissioner College Degrees

    Degree candidates should complete the Record Card package found on the last pages of the course catalog (fillable .pdf forms) and send to the appropriate Dean prior to 3/15/26. The Dean’s email will be listed in the catalog. Degree applications received after this date may not allow enough time to verify prior training and/or credentials for the degree to be awarded the day of the College.

    Degree applications may alternatively submitted online through a Google form at Online Degree Application.   Online submission of degree applications is requested to be completed by March 15, as well.

    Registration fees

    • The conference fee for students is $35 until 3/15/26. 
    • An early registration discount of $5 is available for registrations received prior to 2/1/26.  Discounted early registration is non-refundable. 
    • After 3/15 the registration fee will be $40.
    • The conference fee covers course participation, continental breakfast, lunch, recognition items, certificates, and a patch.

      • Commissioner College Degrees.

        The College will offer several degrees. The lisstof degrees and their requirements may be found on pages 6 and 7 of the course catalog, which may be downloaded using the link above.

        The degree applications are on the last pages of the catalog and should be be submitted to the appropriate Dean. See page 7 of teh catalog for contact information for the Deans.

        It is requested that Degree applications be submitted to the appropriate Dean prior to 3/15/26to allow time for verfication of any information if needed. Degree application received after that date may not allow enough time to verify credentials to allow the degree to be awarded the day of the College. 

      • Overnight Accommodations:

        Realizing that some participants may have to travel some distance to attend the event, The Daniel Webster and Spirit of Adventure Councils have arranged for cabins to be available on Friday evening 3/27.  Accomodayions are available at either:

        Camp Carpenter, 1500 Bodwell Road, Manchester NH, (for participants coming from the north,) or

        New England Base Camp, 411 Unquity Road, Milton, MA, (for participants from the south and west.)

        These accommodations are being provided at no cost to Commissioner College participants. Both camps are about a 45-minute drive from the conference location. Shower facilities are available at New England Base Camp at the Egan Center pool locker rooms. Participants are also free to pursue other commercial lodging if desired.
