Led by Gi Matan Guma’s original MALI’E’ cohort, participants will explore ancestral spirituality through creativity and ceremony.
We will tend to sacred sites within the jungle, the community and ourselves through breathing, movement, chant, deep listening, and material cultural practices.
The multi-disciplinary workshops will culminate in a collaborative community ritual activation at Sagan Kotturan Chamoru on Saturday, January 3rd.
This space is intended for those looking to build relationships and support each other on our healing journey in service of ináfa’maolek. Musicians, painters, dancers, designers, singers, carvers, storytellers, poets, songwriters, fashionistas, weavers, cultural practitioners, drag artists, and every kind of artist are all encouraged to apply.
This space is for you even if you don’t identify as an artist or cultural practicioner (yet), as long as you’re willing to face yourself, embrace discomfort, and try something new.
Theme:
In this years Co-Laboratory, we will research how to relate to the energy of the upcoming lunar month Umayånggan- to be unsettled, or weepy, time of short frequent rains. How can our creative and cultural practices help us address our grief so we can move with awareness towards renewal, joy, and abundance?
Time Commitment & Chenchule’:
Participants need to commit and be present for the full estimated 33 hours of total time between Monday December 29th - Sunday January 4th. Approximately five hours per day. Exact times to be determined based of weather and participant availability. Participants will receive a $800 chenchule’ upon completion of the program.
