  • Boulia Camel Races highly values those willing to volunteer their time to assist us in bringing you our annual event.  If you are willing to contribute 6 hours of your time over the course of the weekend then we are happy to give you free entry to our event and are more than happy to offer you a refund if you have already purchased tickets.

    The areas in which we are always seeking assistance are...

    • organisational geniuses in the days leading up to the event
    • computer or iphone savvy folk that are willing to assist us in checking people in to the event and issuing wristbands.
    • Humans to man the mobile bar (ticket only system)
    • People that are comfortable working with numbers in different dynamics - ticket sales/bar ticket sales/merchandise sales
    • Bar ticket sales (cash handling & eftpos use required)
    • Gate entry check in & wristband issue

    We will be in contact with you in June 2024. Volunteers are our most valued asset with this event, if you apply, you will be accepted and greatly appreciated! On the Sunday evening after the event we have a volunteer, sponsor & camels BBQ & drinks to pat each other on the back for not only surviving another year but for being part of enabling us to bring it all together!

  • Mobile Bar Human

    Operation of the mobile cold room "can only" bar.  This is a minimum 2 person job.  Zero cash handling.  Cold room trailer is approximately 400mm step up from ground.  Restocking of cold room is part of this - there are limited quantities kept on board.  The mobile bar has race visibility.

     

    Gate/ticket sales prior to event

    Prior to the event from Monday onwards, campers want to 'check in' & exchange their tickets for their wristbands OR purchase their tickets/wristbands if they have not already done so. Basic data entry is needed to assist with this - obtaining customers name, email, postcode & processing payments.

     

    Gate check in DURING event

    From Friday onwards, there is a stream coming through the gate requiring check in (verification of their ticket purchase).  This is undertaken through an app (New system in 2026) and requires a smartphone or tablet. For persons that have not pre-purchased ticket - tickets are available from the merchandise tent.

     

    On Call Support

    We sometimes have last minute needs popup and greatly value our willing goafers - please let us know if you are ready willing and able to assist.  ***Limited applications taken

     

    Merchandise Set/Up & Sales Prior to Event

    Setting up, cataloguing, presenting & sales of 2026 merchandise

     

    Merchandise Sales During Event

    Sales of Merchandise utilising Square Point of Sale System

     

    Merchandise Pack Down After Event

    Packdown/stocktake/label of remainder of merchandise

     

    After event Support

    Assist with packging of soft drinks/alcohol/merchandise for returns.

    Assist with appropraite storage & organisation of assets.

     

    Co-ordinating Volunteer Rosters

    Developing a roster system for volunteers, communicating time allocations, ensuring ticket issues/refunds, waiver completions, etc.

     

    Main Bar Human - Supporting the Boulia State School P&C

    Boulia State School organise & operate the bar for the Boulia Camel Races.  If you would like to commit to assisting, please let us know here.  Please note, this is a very fast paced environment, and messy.  

     

    Containers For Change Operations

    Boulia Camel Races operates the Containers for Change depot in Boulia.  If you would like to volunteer to assist in these operations/counting so we can stay on top of our community recycling, please let us know.
