This workshop is designed to build and strengthen students’ abilities to take on roles that would suit their individual proficiencies in acting. The class consists of choosing, rehearsing and performing modern and/or classical scenes and monologues from a wide range of dramatic literature. The class will be instructed in basic acting techniques that will hone in their performance skills. These skills include voice and diction, stage dialects, character physicalizing and audition techniques. In addition to sharpening these talents, we will explore some dramaturgical information of chosen pieces including the history of the piece’s genre and its pertinent aspects of their specific time and place.
The class will culminate in a performance of the rehearsed pieces implementing these learned skills in a mock audition format.
This class series is perfect for actors who would like to be prepared for auditions for their local school musicals and/or plays, or students who would like to get a monologue ready for college auditions, too!
