This two-hour, virtual and interactive training is led by SHIFT facilitators and will focus on:
● What is meant by an “Employment First approach to services” and how it aligns with person-centered practices.
● The principles and values that drive Employment First and its connection to independence, inclusion, and dignity of work.
● The benefits of competitive, integrated employment for people supported, organizations, and communities.
● Best practices and strategies for fostering employment pathways and supporting people in identifying, preparing for, and maintaining meaningful work.
● The roles and responsibilities of team members and partners in advancing Employment First across systems and supports.
Participation Requirements
Our goal is to replicate an in-person learning environment as closely as possible. Participants are expected to treat this online session as they would a traditional classroom training—present, attentive, and ready to learn. To ensure the best possible experience for everyone:
• Be fully engaged and give the session their full attention. Multi-tasking—such as providing direct support, answering phone calls, or working on other computer tasks—is not permitted.
• Be stationary. Just as would be expected in an in-person class, remain in one place. Attending while driving, walking, or moving around is not acceptable.
• Join from an individual device with a camera. A computer or tablet with a front-facing camera is strongly preferred. If a phone must be used, the learner's face must be clearly visible (not the ceiling, the top of the learner's head, or an obstructed view). Groups joining from a single device are not allowed without pre-approval.
• Keep their camera on at all times. Active visual participation is essential for interaction and accountability.
• Arrive on time and stay for the full session. Just like an in-person training, participants may not miss more than 15 minutes of the course.
• Be prepared to take notes. Note-taking (on paper or electronically) supports learning and retention.
• Use the registered name on Zoom. Participants' display name must match the registration so we can confirm attendance and course credit.
