The Lucas County Treasurer’s Office offers a Foreclosure Request Program for individuals, neighbors, developers, and community organizations interested in helping return tax-delinquent properties to productive use. This form is the first step for requesting that a parcel be reviewed for possible tax foreclosure.
The program is designed to support responsible investment, strengthen neighborhoods, and ensure that properties do not sit vacant or neglected. Submitting a request allows the Treasurer’s Office to review the parcel, verify eligibility, and determine whether foreclosure is appropriate.
Please note:
- Submitting a request does not guarantee that a foreclosure will occur or that the property will become available for purchase.
- All requests are reviewed carefully, and approval is based on what best serves the community and the County, at the Treasurer’s discretion.
- If a foreclosure is approved and completed, the property will be offered for sale at an online public Sheriff’s Sale, where anyone may bid.
- The opening bid at the Sheriff’s Sale will include all delinquent taxes, assessments, interest, and court, title, and administrative costs, as required by law.
- A $5,000 deposit per parcel is required for approved requests to cover foreclosure-related costs. Deposits are refunded if the property is redeemed or if the requester is not the successful bidder at the Sheriff’s Sale.
The form below gathers the basic information we need to begin our review. Once submitted, you will receive a confirmation email with next steps.
We appreciate your interest in helping strengthen Lucas County neighborhoods and returning properties to productive, tax-generating use.
