Playact Theatre is home to a growing community of young artists, families, and creative professionals. We produce bold shows, offer year-round educational programs, and work hard to make theatre accessible in Northwest Indiana. Our volunteers help shape the welcoming, high-energy environment our audiences and students count on.
While many activities happen inside our rehearsal and performance spaces, Playact regularly needs volunteer help throughout the community for events, outreach programs, and special projects.
We host several events throughout the year that rely on committed volunteers. Some are one-day efforts, and others pop up more regularly. Think performances, workshops, front-of-house shifts, community events, load-ins and strikes, and our annual fundraisers and celebrations.
Volunteer needs cover a wide range of interests and skill sets. You might be greeting patrons and scanning tickets, helping with concessions, supporting our creative teams, assisting with student performers, distributing materials, or pitching in behind the scenes with organizing, prepping, or set-up and break-down.
We’re also always looking for creative hands. If you can build or paint, stitch or alter, design props, or help bring sets and costumes to life, we’ll gladly plug you into the process.
And here’s the thing. If you have even a spark of talent or curiosity the size of a mustard seed, we’ll meet you there. Maybe you’ve always wanted to learn how to sew, paint a set, build a prop, or dive into the creative side of theatre but never had the chance or confidence. We’re here to guide that passion, teach you what you don’t know yet, and give you a place to grow your skills alongside people who believe in you.
Volunteering with Playact is flexible. Give a little time or a lot. Show up once for a specific project or stay involved throughout the season. Whatever you can offer matters, and it makes an immediate difference.
If you love theatre and want to support a place where young artists grow and thrive, we’d be thrilled to have you on our volunteer team.
