• TREFOIL ACADEMY, LLC BEHAVIOR CONTRACT

At Trefoil Academy, we care deeply about everyone’s physical, emotional and mental safety. It is important to us that camp always be a sanctuary for youth to discover who they are, embrace their passions, and explore the world around them. We ask for the camp community's continuous support in this matter. To aid in our objective, we ask each of our campers to attest to the following:

    1) I will respect others.

    • This is an inclusive environment, which means that I will be interacting with others may havevalues, beliefs, religions, cultures, and backgrounds different from my own. I will be respectful ofthose differences.
    • I will be sensitive to and respect the personal needs of others. We are all here to have fun.
    • I understand that there will be no tolerance for bullying, including verbal, exclusionary, physical,or relational bullying.
    • I understand that there will be no aggression of any kind for any reason. I will not engage inteasing, harassing, mocking, gossiping, or using slurs about any person or group.

    2) I will always listen to and follow the instructions of the staff the first time they are given.

    3) I will follow the camp rules and policies at all times. These policies are found in the family orientationpacket, and it is my responsibility to read them. If I have any questions, I will ask my parent or guardian.

    4) Regarding romantic relationships:

    • I must immediately disclose any romantic relationships to my dorm leadership team.
    • I understand romantic partners are not permitted to live together in the same cabin.
    • I understand romantic partners are not permitted to be “buddies” (e.g. a group of three camperswho travels to a location like the bathroom).
    • I understand romantic partners are not permitted to be alone with each other.
    • I understand romantic partners are not allowed to engage in any kind of public display of affection(e.g. holding hands, kissing, sitting on laps).

    6) I will follow and uphold the following principles of civil discourse. These are:

    • moderate your tone

    • seek clarification of intention of another’s words/actions rather than assume another’s intent
    • confront aggression with how it made you feel rather than ignore it and ask the otherindividual what they are hoping to get out of this encounter.
    • recognize that others will make mistakes while honoring your own boundaries.Sometimes breaks are needed.

People will have different opinions/beliefs in a diverse community. No one is expected to agree with the other person’s opinions/beliefs, and disagreement is not a rejection of the individual themselves.

    7) I will respect the environment, camp equipment, the camp, the property, and campers’ & staffmembers’ personal belongings. Any fines accrued due to deliberate destruction of the site or its contents(i.e. buildings, furniture etc) will become the guardian's responsibility.
