2026 California Young Playwrights Contest - Entry Form

Playwrights Project's annual statewide playwriting contest is open to all Californians under the age of 19 as of June 1, 2026. The Contest is focused on the revision process. All contest entrants who request feedback will receive an individualized script evaluation. Finalists will be paired with writing mentors over the summer to further develop their plays and will receive a performance of their play on Zoom. Winning plays, selected from the finalists, will have their plays produced live as part of our annual festival of Plays by Young Writers in 2026. Winners between the ages of 15-18 will receive a full professional production. Winners ages 14 and under will see their plays performed as rehearsed readings.
