Associates In Psychotherapy may utilize secure, HIPAA-compliant artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support administrative and clinical workflows. Examples include assistance with scheduling, billing support, documentation drafting, and creation of psychoeducational materials. These tools are used solely to enhance efficiency and quality of care. All clinical decision-making remains the responsibility of your licensed clinician.
Confidentiality and Illinois Law
Your privacy is protected under:
-HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act)
-Illinois Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities Confidentiality Act (740 ILCS 110/)
Any information processed by AI tools will be handled in compliance with these laws. When possible, your identifying information will be removed or minimized before being processed by an AI tool.
What Information May Be Used
Depending on the task, an AI tool may access limited information such as:

-Clinician-generated notes or summaries
-Non-identifying descriptions used for educational or treatment-support purposes
AI tools will not process therapy session recordings, full session transcripts, or personal identifiers unless explicitly permitted by you and compliant with state and federal regulations.

AI tools used by the practice will not:
-Make diagnoses or treatment recommendations
-Replace your clinician’s clinical judgment
-Communicate emergency, crisis, or safety-related information
-Use or store your information for purposes outside the scope of your care
-Sell, share, or distribute your information to third parties

Potential Risks
-As with any digital technology, there is a small risk of unauthorized access or data exposure, despite industry-standard encryption and security safeguards
-AI tools may occasionally generate inaccurate or incomplete suggestions; clinicians will review and independently verify all AI-assisted outputs

-You may decline the use of AI tools without any impact on your ability to receive services
-You may revoke your consent to AI use at any time by providing written notice
