Thank you for your interest in contributing to Folklore & Futurism – an anthology of short stories by trans writers of colour!
Please ensure you have read through the below details before continuing with your submission :)
Anthology contributors must be trans people of colour, UK-based, and aged 18 or over.
Contributors will be asked to write a short story of 5000-10,000 words for the anthology. The short story will need to be finished and any edits completed by Summer 2026.
This is a paid opportunity.
Contributors will be paid £1000 to attend three online writing workshops (beginning from March 2026) and to complete the story.
To be considered, submit:
- a 300-500 word synopsis of the story you plan to write on the theme of ‘folklore’ and/or ‘futurism’ (you can choose one, or combine both themes)
- a 500 word writing sample (this can be of the story itself, or another piece of fiction)
Submissions are open now.
Deadline: 11:59pm, 8th February 2026
We welcome submissions from all TPOC writers, with priority going to lesser known or established voices.
