About the Program
Good Grief Network's GGN-Z Facilitation Training program is designed for people who serve climate-anxious youth & teens.
By taking our GGN-Z Facilitation Training, you can better support the young people you engage with and facilitate our GGN-Z program in your communities and organizations!
You will learn how to facilitate our GGN-Z program, created by Susan Ingras and Annalisa Galgano. This 5-session support program is designed for teens who want to get real, build resilience, and be re-inspired by joy and creativity. While not required, we highly encourage and offer resources to support facilitating GGN-Z in your community after completing this training. To learn more about the GGN-Z program, click here.
In this facilitation training, we connect asynchronously for 8 weeks over our virtual platform Mighty Networks. Access your course material (including facilitation materials, GGN-Z content, and additional resources to dig deeper) even after the training ends, engage with other facilitators-in-training from all over the world, and apply your learnings to engaging conversations via forums. Your facilitators are present to answer questions about the course and teach you how to facilitate the 5-steps with the youth in your life. Please factor in 2-3 hours per week to engage in the Mighty Networks space.
For 3 sessions, you'll join your cohort and facilitators in a live practicum to experience distilling the Steps and embodying the GGN-Z program. These sessions will bring to life the material learned during the asynchronous portions as you practice facilitation with your cohort. There will be plenty of space to ask questions, practice Step distillations, and engage with each other as you learn to hold space for young folks as they explore their heavy and painful feelings. It is expected that you attend these 90-minute sessions on February 28, March 21, and April 4 from 8am to 9:30am Pacific Time (more information below).
We are not training you in a therapy modality. We will not learn how to fix young people or cure them of their overwhlem or despair. We learn emotional intelligence, deep listening, and how to share in ways that create emergent possibilities.
In this space, our facilitators will create a brave, emergent container where each participant can explore what it means to stay awake, aware, and engaged during times of great disruption, chaos, and uncertainty. We will do the deep work of facing and processing our feelings with others, so that we can care for ourselves and our communities.
Good Grief Network creates transformative spaces where we can slow down, listen deeply, create connections, build trust, and reimagine the world. We use group consciousness, grounding exercises, personal sharing, and poetry as tools for connection.

We expect you to engage with the course, and by completing this application, you are indicating that you have the time and space in your schedule to dedicate to this training commitment.
Accessibility
The course is hosted on Mighty Networks and the live pracitums will take place virtually over Zoom. Access and familiarity with the Zoom platform is recommended and basic training of Mighty Networks will be shared.
This program will be hosted in English. We would like to be able to offer this training in other languages, but are still a very small nonprofit organization and do not have that capacity at this time.
Please let us know if you have any accessibility needs the facilitator team should be aware of.
