The information provided on this form will be used by the Legacy of Service Foundation Scholarship Committee to select recipients for scholarships. The Legacy of Service Foundation has given more than $100,000.00 in scholarships to minority high school seniors exhibiting outstanding scholastic excellence and leadership involvement. Evelyn Foster Hamilton, a retired educator, dedicated her career to ensuring quality Music Education for students in Dallas ISD. Her dedication earned her a promotion from the classroom, making her the first district-wide Music Coordinator, where she oversaw the curriculum and professional development of all music faculty. Her passion for music extends to the community, with her participation in, and direction of several community choirs. She continues to support and mentor teachers entering the field of education. This application is valid only for college periods starting Fall 2026. Application Deadline: January 30, 2026. Finalists considered for this scholarship must complete a personal interview with the scholarship committee.

Applicants must meet the following criteria: 1. Must be a female minority graduating senior student, attending a public, private or charter high school in Dallas County 2. Must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale or higher. 3. Must attend a Historically Black College or University (HBCU) after graduating high school 4. Must major in Fine Arts and/or Education. 5. Provide two letters of recommendation from teachers/professors/members of the community. 6. Must have completed community service hours within the last four years.       7. Submit all materials by the stated deadline. Applications submitted with missing components will not be considered. Requests for submissions after the stated deadline (January 30, 2026) will not be accepted.
