    Are you ready?  2026 is coming fast and so is the first competition of the new year!  The Body Eclectic 2026 -an All Media, 2D and 3D Juried Show at Lawrence Street Gallery.  The theme of this annual show is...the human body, in all its shapes and forms and feelings.

     

    The juror for this exhibit will be Mary Dudek

    Mary Dudek is a Pontiac-based artist specializing in sacred fine art, primarily focused on figure sculpture, drawing, painting, and ceramics. Her bronze figure sculptures can be seen throughout Metro-Detroit, including at the Capuchin Friar Retreat Center in Washington, MI. In addition to her studio practice, she teaches figure drawing, painting, and sculpting at Paint Creek Center for the Arts and Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center.

    Key Dates:

    • Exhibition:  February 4th-27th, 2026.
    • Entries accepted:  Until January 9, 2026, at 11:30 pm.
    • Notification of invited or declined approximately January 17th via email from Laura Host and posting on the website.  
    • Drop off at the gallery during gallery hours, January 28-31.
    • Opening Reception:  Sunday, February 8th, 2:00 - 4:30 pm 
    • Mid-Month Reception:  Sunday, February 22nd, 2:00 - 4:30 pm.
      Parking is free on Sundays in Ferndale.
    • Pick up unsold work:  Saturday, Feb. 28th 2026.

    The monetary awards (Best in Show: $150, 2nd Place: $100, Honorable Mentions: $25 each) will be determined in person by the juror, Mary Dudek, and announced at the Opening Reception. The Gallery will also award a People's Choice Award ($75) to the entry with the highest number of visitor votes received between the Opening Reception and the Mid-Month Reception, with this announcement made at the mid-month reception.

  • Rules for this competition:

    • One entry per artist - each entry may include up to two pieces of art for $35. 
    • No AI art please. 
    • PLEASE CONSIDER CAREFULLY what you enter in the form below.  Changes (Title, Medium, Size and Price) will not be accepted after the entry is submitted.  The Juror, website manager, Public Relations people and Label Maker will be using the information as submitted.
    • Awards will include BEST OF SHOW ($150), 2nd Place ($100), Peoples Choice ($75) and Honorable Mentions ($25 each).
    • All entries must be for sale and not have been exhibited at Lawrence Street Gallery before. 
    •  We are unable to accept shipments of artwork, and therefore require in-person delivery and return of accepted artwork.  Please contact Jamie Thomson (jamie@brilliantbluedesigns.com) with Subject line :Body Eclectic for questions on this issue.
    • Art can be no larger than 40" wide - INCLUDING THE FRAME- or weigh more than 50 lbs.
    • Lawrence Street Gallery will retain 30% of the sale price on all pieces sold at the gallery or in our online shop.
    • Artwork may not be removed prior to the end of the exhibit (by artists or buyers) and will be available for sale on our website for the month of FEBRUARY, 2024).
    • Artwork must be ready for exhibit (framed & wired properly - no sawtooth brackets). We prefer plexiglass to regular glass for glazing.  We have pedestals for 3D work. 
    • Labels for the back or bottom of the artwork will be provided via email after your entry has been accepted (notification via email on JANUARY 14th).  Please print the label and attach to back of artwork after acceptance information is emailed to you.
    • Lawrence Street Gallery will exercise professional care in the handling of all entries, but cannot assume liability for loss or damage while works are in our possession.
    • All unsold work must be picked up Saturday Feb 28th by 5 pm.  Alternative arrangements can be made by notifying the gallery (phone or email).
    • Artists whose work is exhibited in this show give Lawrence Street Gallery permission to use submitted images for promotion and display for sale on our website.
    • The gallery reserves the right to cancel the event due to unavoidable events and entry fees will be refunded.

     

    Remember:  ALL ENTRIES MUST BE SUBMITTED BY JANUARY 9th, but we really appreciate if you don't wait til the last minute to enter.
